Hmm, that's a new one.

I just can't get clean, otherwise.
So, it pretty much sets a lower
bound on how often I bathe.

I dated a guy that did that. He would take off all his clothes and do his business and take a shower.

i hate germs and i worry about them all the time, so it makes it hard for me to look over this.
i am afraid it also causes him problems in every social circle.
i want him to be clean around me, but it pisses me off that ppl at work or anywhere may judge him.
the classic genius that stinks.
i dont want that for him.

This is a serious problem.

If he has a very active mind it may be that showering is boring for him.

You can't read or write or watch TV in the shower. It's total information starvation for 15 minutes to an hour depending on how long you stay in.

If I didn't have my radio and books on tape I would probably never shower, either.

Ask him if he wouldn't like to listen to a radio show or a book on tape or a TV show while he's bathing.

Just a suggestion

That sounds totally like me! :? I do force myself to shower every day but it's like, 30 mins without being able to think about 'stuff' or use the internet or read something...arghh. This, combined with a sensory issue. Once im under the shower though I can't get out again, i.e. once the initial shock of the water is gone and I'm all warmed up...
 (I think I start thinking about 'stuff' again once warmed up under the shower and then not wanting to go out again because this would mean at least 5-10 mins of non-thinking again due to having to dry-off, comb hair, shave, dress, etc etc )

I once had a cat that like to jump into the shower with me. He was hand-raised as a kitten by my step-sister and me, and we would bathe him in the sink every day until he figured out how to clean himself. And so he learned to like water. Very strange.

We had one that loved to play with the
water in the shower. Also liked to walk
along the rim of the tub. Fell in a couple
of times though, and definitely was NOT
happy about it.

I have only a weak suggestion for this case:
I believe a shower makes us happy, specially after a long time. so, you could film the guy before and after the shower and show him if he is really happy. well...

Like people actually do what makes
them happier? I know that I fail regularly
on this count.

Flo used to try drinking out of the toilet when she was younger.
She's sleeping on my arm now so I'm typing with one hand.

You are right! I lasted so long to discover I should look for my happyness, I should try to be happy! It is a complete absurd that I have forgoten this any time when I was a child.

Despite of such absurd, many people, I think, still don't try to be happy!! ! 8O
Well, for this reason I insist on the theme.

Anyway I believe it is very easy to convince an aspie that happiness is a very important thing; a NT knows it instinctively.

I was convinced of it, for a long time.
Now though, certain obligations have
made me miserable again, and somehow
I've lost touch. Anytime that I post, it's
me becoming a bit more miserable. And
I post a lot.
