Someday, there will be robotic companions,

But who would own them?

This sounds almost exactly like my boyfriend except for one minor difference--- he won't let you win at games ( well, maybe on your birthday he might).

The modified list is more reasonable. You might want to reconsider some of the "necessary" and "not necessary ones. I kind of rearranged them by priorities, threw in my likely not all that helpful comments, and left it all as a quote.

Sopho wrote:
(The ones that really should be mandatory)
*likes history - Well, with your interest of history, they should at the least appreciate it, and be willing to listen if you want to talk about it.
*likes cats - A given, worth keeping
*likes me - uh... of course this is mandatory. :P
*is quiet - I can understand this one, but by this do you mean not overly talkative?
*has internet access - Again, given.
*does not chew chewing gum - From what has been said, that's a pretty big deal, so keep it as necessary. The whole noisy chewing thing really gets on my nerves, so I can appreciate this one. I don't really know anyone that is always chewing gum, I guess I'm lucky.
*is atheist or agnostic - Makes things easier. I agree, necessary. Well, unless I find someone that believes in some religion I can tolerate yet is otherwise perfect for me...then I'd have to seriously think about it for a while...
*is reasonably left wing Well...what is your definition of reasonably left wing? I'd say they'd have to at least be leaning in that direction, what with you looking for a woman. :P

(One foot in mandatory, one in strongly desired / compromise)
*does not call me on the phone - I'm guessing this goes along with the having internet access? They're going to want to be able to communicate with you in some way. I hate using the phone as well, generally avoid it or reply with a text message. Even though I can't stand using it, I've found that the very few times I've been involved with someone, I didn't mind it. A few nights I wound up spending 7 hours on the phone with one of them. And, again, I hate phones. This would be one more for discussing with them once something has already started. If they care and are interested, again, another compromise that they would probably be willing to make.

(Perhaps should be strongly desired, or are likely as a compromise made by the other person)
*likes Rammstein -Well...if they can tolerate it at the least, as long as they don't hate it, would that be enough? If someone cares about you they'd likely be willing to make compromises as to what kind of music they are willing to listen to.
*is not taller than me - Though you say it is necessary, you could be eliminating women that would otherwise be potentially perfect for you. It is just a silly little physical attribute. I'd say it might be better to have this as desired but not required. (woo...rhyming this early in the morning amuses me.)
*will go to museums with me - If they are interested in you and care about you, they will even if they don't even like museums all that much.
*will go to the zoo with me - See above.

(The rest, would be nice, but would be more bonus than anything else.)
*will talk to me about politics
*doesn't mind watching football with me now and then
*will draw me nice pictures
*likes ET
*will pretend fight with me with light sabers and plastic swords
*plays games with me but lets me win
*will make food for me

OK, I agree with all that ^
Maybe I was being a bit too fussy.
Your edited version of my list seems much more reasonable. :D

I disagree, personally. It depends on the person and how important said requirements are to them. If the requirements are of great importance, then said person won't throw them away. Me, I'm pretty damn militant on the one requirement I have, and even if I were to compromise it, the other partner would have to make a compromise in turn.

Go out to the shops and find a crowded outdoor area. Stand in the middle of the crowd and shout, "I LOVE YOU!! !" Whoever answers first shall be your bride!! !

LOL

Yes, I believe it is too fussy. I bolded out the parts which seem excessive. A list of what you like would probably be better. Making alot of demands scares people off.

Does not chew chewing gum is very important, at leas t when they're with me.
I definitely wouldn't want someone taller than me.
I agree though about ET and letting me win, they shouldn't be necessary I guess.
Although if someone calls me on the phone, I don't answer.
