Versae - easy answer, they're apes. If you look at animal behavior as animal behavior it makes sense in its own way, as hollow or crass as it may be.

And the type of woman who is so desperate she'll go out with *anybody*, regardless of how he treats her--just so she can say she has a boyfriend so she can "be like everyone else"--instant turnoff for me.

I want to be with someone who is actively seeking *me*.

Based on the information you have given I would have to say these two men are wussbags that should really harden up be assertive once in a while. Their women would respect them more and the relationship would be better for both of them as a result.
