Yeah, wouldn't that be an implant?

It seems very interesting. A major issue for me is that it is really a gel instead of an actual pill. I had horrible skin eczema as a kid & I always refused to use the creams & lotions due to sensory issues. I would rather never have sex than have to apply a gel every day but I am sorta on the asexuality spectrum. I like sex but don't need it. An interesting(to me anyway) side-note is that I take a med to reduce my testosterone & the med I was 1st on for that was part progestin & that med was Androcur(Cyproterone Aetate)

I'd be very afraid of the pain cuz that is a very sensitive area. I would much rather have an implant in my arm like the birth-control Implanon & Nexplanon. My girlfriend had Implanon & now has Nexplanon in her arm.

The transscrotal is like a piercing because it's a bar that goes right through the scrotum. It can't be done with a needle though (I don't think) and it needs stitches too.

Can I just add that not all women suffer bad side effects from taking the pill. I've only had what you call the full pill, Microgynon and Cimizt. My normal cycle was painful and various other issues you don't want to know about, so I was subscribed the pill to balance out my cycle.

The first one affected me in no discernible way and the second really helped, although, now I'm off it I'm not sweating as much, but I also had caught a bad virus some time during that 6 months, so neither me or my Dr are sure which caused the sweating. But I actually got back to feeling like a normal human whilst taking it.

However, my sister suffered from severe depression on the pill, so I know it's not for everyone.

I have a friend who suffered horrific periods who now has an IUD and she's so happy now. No more pain.

So it may not be as horrific as you imagine.

If the pill didn't affect someone's sperm cell count then how would it prevent pregnancy?

This article I found says the main pill they have been studying for male contraception is supposed to reduce the production of sperm.

https://utswmed.org/medblog/pill-guys-m ... ety-tests/
Quote:
Dimethandrolone undecanoate (DMAU) is a once-daily pill that suppresses two types of male hormones – follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) – to simultaneously decrease production of testosterone and sperm without causing symptoms of low-testosterone (low-T).

I can’t believe I wrote that :P. It was late and I’d had a glass of wine or two ... what I should have written was that it doesn’t affect a man’s libido and that his sperm production will return to normal within a few months, once he stops applying the gel. This gel won’t actually be available for another 5-10 years, but they’re looking for people willing to trial it.

Hi guys ... just thought I’d share ... As an AS woman, no contraceptive has ever been a good “fit” for my system. Would you be prepared to try the male “pill” for your lady? Thoughts?

Finally, the ‘male Pill’ is here. So what DOES it do to your sex life? Hot flushes. Mood swings. And an extra half a stone — for him! After a year testing a revolutionary hormonal contraceptive for men, one brave couple lift the covers

No I would not take the pill

I was interested to learn you are a believer in the Quiverfull approach. I too believe that every baby is sacred, but this has sadly led to the death of women. My mother died young after having had 7 births from this way of thinking. I too would likely have not survived a further pregnancy though I’d originally hoped for a fourth. I had 24hr morning sickness with all 3, in and out of hospital just to rehydrate. I lost the ability to speak, I was so ill. I couldn’t even keep water down. It can be fatal. I could not have endured a fourth. If your wife experienced Hyperemisis Gravidarum, would you reconsider your approach?

Hey Boo - it’s being tested at the moment, in fact they seem to be looking for further volunteers. It won’t be made available to the public for another 5-10 years, unfortunately.

They have so far reported that “ The synthetic testosterone also ensures the man’s libido and overall physical health is maintained. The result: no sperm in his semen but, researchers say, few other discernible effects.

The couple in the article agree that it hasn’t effected their sex lives, as in altered libido.

Hey Nick - I understand you wanted to reduce your libido some years back and this reminds me of the Depo Provera injection I tried for a couple of years here in England. It was one of a number of things I tried. I learned it was also used on inmates in prisons to effectively reduce their drive. I was soo glad to stop the injection as only then, did I feel “alive and truly me” again.

I too was prescribed the pill when I was about 16, for similar reasons. It was the first time I ever visited the Doc on my own, as I had no mother figure for guidance and was suffering. It was effective but as the years went on, it caused health issues and I had to stop taking it in my 20s.

I guess I would take it since it would be unfair to expect my hopefully soon future girlfriend to always take the pill and I’ve been told it’s hard to feel pleasure with condoms.

I stopped posting in this sub-forum regularly but I made an exception for you, warm and sweet Juliette.

That's great that it's worked for you. I was speaking from personal experience because the women in my family have adverse reactions to hormonal contraception despite having endo and other conditions causing long or difficult cycles. Many women in my family can't tolerate the pill at all, and I'm referring to women from many generations on both sides of the family. It caused a list of horrible side effects for them. The women with immune disorders can't take it and nor could they have hormonal IUDs or any hormone therapy. The copper IUDs caused an autoimmune response and their bodies rejected them after causing uterine damage. I know this doesn't happen for everyone, but I'm only speaking for the women I know and love. Myself, I've already had two strokes at a young age and I wouldn't be allowed to take any hormones even if I wanted to. I also have a heart condition and hypertension which are considered risk factors. Certainly some people fare well on contraception but I've seen a lot of horror stories in my family and even with my own health.

Definitely would. I was with someone who couldn't take contraceptive medications. In the end it wasn't necessarily a bad thing :) if you know what I mean..
I'd definitely be up for taking a make contraceptive pill for a women if she was a good fit for me.. 8)

Pulling out works to, even planned parenthood lists that as a contraceptive method. If neither person wants to take a pill or have something inserted in their reproductive parts that approach can be used.

I wouldn't take it - I dont like the thought of my bodies functioning being changed chemically.

Not keen on my past partners taking anything either as at the time, I care about them and didn't like the thought of any damage being done to them.

Prior to the birth of my first daughter and between her and my second I used a condom. It was OK, only a minor inconvenience.

I then had a vasectomy - I dont have a problem with a non chemical / hormonal surgical procedure.

That was just over 30 years ago and Ive remarried twice since then. My second wife didnt want any more anyway and my third wife was 58 when we married so it was hardly an issue.

I'd take any male pill to look the way I wish.
