What I think in a nutshell. The slimmer someone is seems to quite often be related to how much they achieve, the smarter they are and their overall physical and mental wellbeing. It's no coincidence that where I live the poorest areas are also the most overweight ones and the wealthier areas have the better looking women (and men).

I just associate obesity with poverty and unemployment and toned slim bodies with degrees and high flying jobs. This is sadly often the case too.

That's nice that you're comfortable with mediocrity and satisfied sitting on your butt watching reality tv, and don't seem to see any problem with that. That's your own prerogative. but some of us, actually want to be better versions of ourselves. Some of us actually think self-improvement is a positive thing. I personal find slim bodies aesthetically attractive and a outward signifier of good psychical and mental health and cant help but find their opposite state disgusting in comparison. Now maybe that because i sat on my butt as a kid watching Hollywood movies glamorizing these things. But Everybody develops their own standards, and i would say mine are fairly conventional.

btw im not a gym fanatic, it would be easier of me not to care, and not to have these ideals of beauty, i fall short of them, i'm not perfect, i'm not completely disciplined, but i try to make an effort , these are personal values i hold, that is all, and i can be unmerciful on others as i am on myself in my judgments. Thats just the way i am. I do have aspergers after all. Apparently black and white thinking is a trait.
I agree that self-improvement can be a good thing but I belive that part of self-improvement is learning to be happy with yourself. We can work on ourselves while still trying to relax & enjoy life. Moderation can be very good.

BTW my girlfriend is kinda turned off by very muscular guys. I never had mussels even when I was working a lot on my feet the whole time doing custodial stuff. It was kinda physically demanding & I got a little stronger but I was still much weaker than most other guys or the average woman. I want to be more in shape for my health & so I could better do a part-time job & make a little extra money. Looking muscular would never be in the cards for me & I accept that.

Really? My life is far from poverty. There’s more to life than a degree or a job where you have no freedom to be yourself. I’ll wear my band tees, jeans, Converse and dark makeup and pursue my passions in life and be “mediocre” and not be a slave to ideals.

Yes, I would. I've dated skinny, average and bigger women. I generally prefer the average, thick and chubby range, but the person's weight overall isn't much of an issue for me either way.

Broadly speaking, yes. The difference in women between the Welsh valleys council estates and Cardiff is stark. Even my Dutch friends commented on it.

Typically the poorest areas where I love are the most unhealthy (and overweight)

I know a few very big teachers, scientists and other chunky people with degree education or higher.

At the extreme ends of the scale however I noticed it's almost impossible to find a slim toned woman who's also a highschool dropout. Fat women who are highschool dropouts on the other hand can by found by the cohort.

The way I see it, if a woman takes pride in her health and looks then they also appear to not let their education slip too.

Being very skinny can sometimes be a sign of mental health problems like Anorexia, Bulimia, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, & drug addiction to name a few. There are plenty of skinny celebrities who have a lot of money & have serious psychological issues.

It's usually pretty easy to tell apart those disorders from women who are genuinely fit and toned through good attitude though.

20% to 35% body fat is ok. nice and feminine. normal and healthy. after that it gets unattractive quickly. i don have that paraphelia. a 50% obese woman (or man for that matter) i find personally disgusting, aesthetically, let alone sexually.

Just so you know, I’ve been on a weight loss journey. I’m not perfect either.

Oh and I’d rather my guy and myself be “mediocre” and take time to ourselves to be creative and imaginative than slaves to “ideals of beauty.”

It depends on how "fat" the girl is, and whether or not she would be considered more thick or more fat.

The below girls would be considered "thick", which a lot of guys find attractive because thick girls usually have wide hips, big legs, while having a smaller waist and stomach, and not having too big and flabby arms.

Declining? :?

You're not suggesting the women in Muse's post represent a decline, are you?
