There's a few things contributing to the "sexocalypse" or the "sex recession" whatever you want to call it.

1. The rise of online dating as a mainstream option makes it harder for average and below average looking straight men to find someone due to severe gender imbalances. As an example, the average woman receives a 50% match rate while the average man only receives a 2% match rate. Not exact numbers but you get my point. Online dating for very straight men is very competitive!

2. The rise of online pornography in the past 15-20 years makes it easier for people to get their sexual satisfaction from themselves rather than from other people. This means that some people may be less motivated to pursue partners.

There are other reasons but those are the two I can think of off the top of my head.

Would it help to use a dating site, where you don't have to rely on match rates and can search people based on your choosings, and message anyone you want?

I'm going to make my own sexocalypse

I thought that in today's world of the sexual revolution, and sexual liberation, that more people would be having sex now than before, but is there a reason why not, even with the liberation?

It sounds counterproductive, but there is an argument that this wasn't as big as a problem prior to or when the sexual revolution was in it's early stage when it was more traditional.

So does this all mean that at some point very soon we're all gonna drop what we are doing and spontaneously have sex with who ever is stood next to us.

I don't get it.

What's God got to do with all of this?

I think its gonna be that the pastors in the UK, and eventually the whole world will get the message that they have to try to help those with disabilities get laid. That's what I thought I head God saying but I could be wrong.

Everyone else would also hear this message and stream into the churches by the millions. I have been wrong about things before so I'm not sure.
A big Christian revival is supposed to be happening soon, as many people have prophesised.

The last one I know of was 100 years ago:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1904%E2%8 ... sh_revival
Also in Wales

I just looked at youtube and saw a video called 'God is faithful, he will do it' is that a sign? lol

I think Christians, especially Catholics, would be apathetic instead. Especially Catholics, they hold virginity more to be a prize and canonically that sex is strictly only for reproduction and that even married sex is sinful.

Being married does not guarantee that there will be sex. Not at all.

What about sex with oneself? Doesn’t that count? In many cases, it’s decidedly more enjoyable.

Finally, this seems like a silly thing for God to worry about. There’s far more important things that he should be addressing. (Maybe I should write him a list organized by order of importance. Getting people laid would be towards the bottom of that list.)

Since this is more about sex than love, maybe the Adult Forum would’ve been a better place for this.

I think it's the connection with another person and not having that validated. Sex may be important, but to a lot of people it is the icing on the cake. A person can both desire sex and desire the connection with a person at the same time.

My theory:
It's because of the rise of online dating: only the top guys are having sex with many women, and the average guys are not getting any.

Is there a gender breakdown of these stats?

There is data about this broken down on gender. And I agree with the online thing. Over the few years I was trying that online dating on and off, I got no dates and close to 100% of the girls that I messaged did not reply at all.

I belie the above theory. And so do many "average" people

That was a different time when the social media and online dating didn't exist.

Nothing wrong with that. Sex should be saved for marriage, anyways.

Except, how do you expect someone to want to do that when 70-95% of the population outside of voluntary celibates have already lost their virginity at some point.

75% of the people using Tinder are male.

I would never use online dating.

Recent estimates place the total cost of raising a child from birth to age 18 to be around $300,000 (US).  That is just under $17,000 (US) per year.  A minimum-wage job pays just over $31,000 (US) per year.

This should be enough to incentivize a 'sexocalypse' in America, at least.

Our minimum wage is still $7.25/hr, thanks to Hot Wheels.

You'd be surprised blabbs.
I'm really not interested in anyone's intelligence.
I don't care whether a person is book smart or not, and I don't do shiny things.

Kids cost WAY more than that.

I paid $1200 /month just for DAYCARE back in the 1990s.

It depends. For years, we weren’t even living on $17,000 per year. We didn’t have $1200 per month for the two of us up to a year ago.

We didn't either. We still don't have $1200 disposable income. It was all debt.
