It's not illogical to want to have children.
No? Well, explain then, because I've never gotten the whole "have a kid" thing.
The only part of it that makes sense to me is, "you'll have someone there for you when you're old". Which isn't good enough for me -- it smacks of those old science fiction movies where the mad scientist says, "I will create an army of slaves to do my bidding!"
If there's more to it than that - and I mean in terms of LOGIC, not the biological drive to perpetuate the species, or the desire to create people who'll love you the way people only love their mommies and daddies - then clue me in!
I don't know how much logic there is in these desires... but I can see how they exist outside of pure biological reasons.
If you have a desire to create something truly unique (unique in the sense that it won't be like anybody else... obviously there are many children out there) then having a child seems like a fine desire.
Raising something that is ultimately a benefit to society... to be able to care and raise that. Nothing seems illogical about that...
People are only a drain on society for their first years... eventually they can grow and give back more than what they took initially.
Children can surprise you with their creativity... if your child makes something that you could never make... but still know that in some way you helped... that seems like a good desire.

How would you describe it, like a push or shove?
Guess I could pretend that this is all I need
Wanting more than what I have might appear as greed.
