It is, but when there’s an imbalance, it’s going to lead to different behavior and expectations.

I still think that appearance-driven people are drawn to apps like Tinder. Perhaps the smaller percentage of women who use Tinder are more likely to be appearance-driven.

Once again, it’s not representative of women as a whole. Most women wouldn’t use apps. It’s not a randomized sample of the female population.

That is true and can be said for all venues tho: forums, pubs, gyms, gaming events,…etc

I would say in this day and age, most people use Tinder and it is the norm', not a 'minority' user-base.

Yet the numbers don’t support that, Tinder has only 75 *active* user-base, far less than Facebook that has 2.9 billions active users.

Honestly I expected more, but like you, I had the impression that everyone (singles) talks about Tinder, I hear single women complaining about certain dates or matches okcit all the time. It got too trendy.

If a woman uses it once a year and finds a boyfriend quickly through it there and stops it, is she counted as an « active  user »? Tinder is infamously known to be a graveyard of inactive profiles.

I don’t know anyone offline who uses it or has used it unless they have and just not talked about it.

Well for anyone to be an active user, they would have either be unattached, in an open relationship, or adulterous. The percentage of that population is what matters, not "most people".

If I did the math correctly, only 0.9% of the world population uses Tinder. 3% of Americans use it.

Quote:
[A]bout three-in-ten U.S. adults (31%) say they are single – that is, not married, living with a partner or in a committed romantic relationship. The youngest and oldest Americans are the most likely to be single – 41% of those ages 18 to 29.

https://www.pewresearch.org/social-tren ... americans/

53.5 million Americans are in the 18-29 year old bracket which is by far the group most likely to use Tinder. 10.7 million people use Tinder in the US. If I say that only the single people in that age group (22,000,000) are using Tinder, I’m getting 49% although it’s probably a bit lower because people in other demographics use it too - people who are old like Boo was when he used it. Maybe I’ll recheck the numbers after I drink some coffee.

https://www.marketingcharts.com/featured-30401#

Even if it is 49% of young people in the US, it’s not most people, but it’s a decent number. It’s probably quite a bit lower than 49% because it’s popular with people in the 30-35 age range, too.

Edited: Based in the numbers from here https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads ... nd%20older. , I’m getting roughly 42% of people in that age bracket use Tinder. (53% of people below 30 use online dating. 79% of the young people who use online dating use Tinder.)

One could investigate their own country. Using the world population probably doesn’t say much for various reasons.

Even 51% of people in a certain age bracket would technically be considered 'most' people, if we are assuming a scale of 1 to 100 percent.

I think Tinder is one of those places that people use for a while but then become inactive. As Boo says, it is a 'graveyard' of inactive profiles.

There is a lot of competition now too, with Facebook Dating having reared its head in recent years.

Apparently, according to some sources on the internet, like TP has said, the userbase seems smaller than one would expect for a given country:

But 51% of people in a certain age bracket aren't using it as I've demonstrated in my last post.

Yeah.

I did process the smaller amount of expected people using Tinder in the following post I made, thereby acknowledging your post.

I wasn’t going to recrunch numbers or anything. I’m done with math for today. It was mere curiosity although outliers should count.
