I've often run "simulations" (I like whoever used that term earlier...seems fitting!) of what it would be like to be living with and/or married to various people in my life, at one time or another. But I've never gone so far as to make a real imaginary gf out of them...well not yet anyway, but as I get older who knows what strange things I may end up doing?

I wonder who she is. Can we play the guessing game?
Does her name begin with the letter A?

I used to. Now I have an imaginary husband and kids.
It's OK so long as you either keep it a secret or find someone who understands the need for it and that it's imaginary but to talk about it as if it's real (like my parents do).
But don't go telling people it's real unless you don't know them at all and they ask if you have a girlfriend/boyfriend, then you can lie. But not in goldfish bowl situations like school or uni or work or social media cos people will find out. And especially don't do what I did for a month and build it up into an imaginary boyfriend when it's a real person. (I did slow dance with him).
My guys are always somehow off limits. Last time it was a celeb. This time it's a guy from my old village who I could have dated (he fancied me first) only it would have been a bad idea. (he had a really bad personality which is fine for fantasy but dangerous for real life, he's in prison right now)

In the 1880's Dr. J. Mortimer Granville invented what would become known as 'Bob'; the "Battery Operated Boyfriend".

This reminds me of an episode of The Brady Bunch where Jan makes up a guy named George Glass. I had an imaginary boyfriend who was a hippie when I was in high school.

Now that I have a real GF, not anymore with an imaginary girlfriend.

However the irony is I feel I have to keep my relationship a secret because my sister believes all males (including those on the spectrum) are pigs and my mom will do anything to end my relationship.

One thing that is great about my relationship is that we both have epilepsy.

No, I never went that far. I invented a lot of imaginary characters, many of them from countries I was interested at the time.

No. I never envisioned an idealistic, perfect love interest; such a thing would have doomed be to disappointment. My real life girlfriend seems closer to perfect than anyone I could ever have imagined.

That’s sweet! I hope you tell her that.

I never had an imaginary girlfriend but I did develop a mega huge crush on a celebrity & I fantasize about being with her a lot. It didn't go away despite me getting a real girlfriend who I love & am lost without. I tried to deny the crush for a while & it worked but I just cant do it anymore. I think I need to be slapped really hard or get ECT.
