You would pick a pretty girl over a fat girl. I'm the fat girl. You're the poor guys.

I just had the first date with someone I met on there and it went very well. Just a coffee and a couple of drinks at a pub. We talked for six hours.
I liked him a lot but I can't decide if I want a romantic relationship or just be friends with him. Friendship lasts longer...    I do state clearly that I'm only looking for friendship right now in my profile so I'm not really misleading him. But I'm just so excited I met someone I find interesting.

Some people try to be creative with their messages to get a respond. One of them was something like this:
" ...obviously you are aestthetically interesting, but a friend of mine claimed that, without a doubt, your profile was written by a guy; he said that there were a million dead giveaways.   ............now we've got a $30 bet going as to whether or not you are really a girl.
So, just between you and me, am I about to lose $30?
"

I bet he sends this to everyone. I might have replied if his profile was interesting.

I am, and have got nothing from it. There was one guy I saw on there who viewed my profile and in his said he was autistic. Big coincidence? :? I couldn't be bothered to message him, so I just rated him. Another guy with a lot of money rated me, and I messaged him. No reply. No surprise. Maybe I should message the autistic.

Oh yeh, and as soon as I registered, within 10 minutes I got a 3-4 paragraphs of this guy saying how similar he was to me. I looked at his profile and he's the complete opposite of me. Creep.

I guess money seems to play a big part in the guys that you speak to.
That's a real shame. There's no denying it, either.

At least she's honest.

I think you should go into the dating world with realistic expectations.
A wealthy guy could be telling lies on their profile, and even if they were that image of wealth gives them a fairer pick of the bunch than poorer guys. They are the kind that will objectify you even more than usual and go for what you class as the "prettier" girls.

I don't have an issue with your weight nor do I think it should be an issue :) I have gone out with girls of various sizes.
I do think however you shouldn't have an issue with guys being poor. It doesn't make us any less of a person including on a friendship level. It seems you do not keep any poor company either on these boards. People see through this and are more likely to reject you for that than your weight.

Much like many guys need to rethink their approach on OKC, I think you as a woman need to rethink yours.

I said that was my first option. You would be downright lying if you said that you wouldn't pick the prettiest girl first. You are right though that people can lie about their wealth, just as anyone can post any photo. That's just the internet for you. You do assume however that I automatically cut out anyone who is poor/average.

Based on what evidence?

No, I know you don't like me, and you try to wind me up, then cover it up with humour (I realise the above was a joke, btw).

Well, looks are part of the person whereas money is material. You picked the first guy but didn't really specify which of the 2 guys was better looking. I would usually go for the prettier girl, that much is true! But surely you would also go for the guy that attracts you the most, rather than the guy that has the material things that attract you the most? Maybe it's a cultural difference we have, which would explain why I am missing something here.

I don't think it would be fair to publicly give any examples or call you out (plus you keep deleting your messages, I guess it's a failsafe). It's just a small observation. It doesn't take away from the fact you are usually very nice to everyone, so don't worry too much about it :)

Looks and money are equally shallow. We all have shallow wants, it's human nature.

I just have a go at Faceofboo cos he's too stuck up, and nobody else on this board is rude back to him.

She looks very brunette there.

Maybe she's originally an Arab girl after all?? :O
