I don't think that was the point.. she was upset because she wasn't mentioned. But people should take it with a grain of salt, Fiz wasn't mentioned and she's f'ing gorgeous. Most people just nominated themselves, so it isn't really a popularity contest if people are nominating themselves as opposed to "voting".

What would be completely inappropriate would be having a poll listing members asking which one is the most attractive. Moderators would be all ontop of that sh**. Not the same.

true, no one is voting. That would be a little... inappropriate.

They are though. This sort of thread, both male/female, encourages guys to "vote" and make lists of their top choices. People who make the lists encourage this kind of behavior. You can call it a joke, but they really are putting in a vote for who they think is the most attractive- the thread titles are asking people to. Just because we don't have the results in poll or graph form doesn't mean it's not the same thing. That's why I voiced my opinion earlier that this is not the best idea.

And even the people who were mentioned get insecure when they are competing for a vote or a list- remember how jwa jumped to explain that yes, she is worth calling pretty because she has all these modeling contracts after I made some generic statement about how pictures online don't always represent the real thing anyway?

Women are judged too often on looks anyway, why turn this into a pageant?

I saw a +1 once in both threads. no one is voting. this is not a voting thread.

^I thought I'd post my whole original response, because I feel it's important to show there was more to it, than that one single line. I just felt like that one line(by itself) made me look bad, in a way.

Quote:
I say, it is all in fun, and those who participate are to be commended for having self-confidence. It might be tough for those who do not feel confident enough to get involved, but why bash those who do? It is not an actual competition and should be looked at as an achievement for those who participated, and feel good about themselves. Maybe a goal for those who are not ready to put themselves out there yet? This is for fun people, nothing more. If you don't feel comfortable participating, then don't, simple as that. :)

This wasn't directed at just one person. It was my generalization, after reading the posts leading up to it. :)

I am disabled I can't. I tried working under supervison with other people with disabilities. They are the most frustrating people to work with and talk about who knows everything and who right and who is wrong - it was ret*d
and thier was this one girl that kept sooking all the time :x and the support worker was always getting called in for me being aggressive. I wasnt aggressive at all but her dobbing on me all the time... It's BS
I just couldnt stand her and I lost my job.

True but what jobs are out there. It is hard enough for people with qualifications and with out disabilites to get a job.

try "Mencap". Just look for a job that you know you will enjoy and could be good at. Then any possible problems are less likely to occur
