That just shows the obvious: that, by default, the girl is many orders of magnitude more attractive than the guy.

Because it's a social norm that society has created, which has not died off yet...that guys ask girls out.

Now let the raging at the whole female sex begin, because somehow we're all directly responsible for something that became a norm long ago....at least seems how these questions usually go.

To whom? If we are talking straight males then yes you're right. However if it comes to females or gay males I am pretty certain they'd find the guy more attractive.

Trust me females wouldn't get with guys if we thought you were all that repulsive and unworthy as you keep claiming males are.

I actually prefer it that way.

So you were a teenager in the age of free love? That must have been so cool!

You see, if we didn't have AIDS, someone would have to invent it!

It wasn't that great for me in the 1970s. I had lots of trouble getting dates then.

The only reason I lost my virginity in 1978 was because I was sort of a "substitute" for another guy. I had gone out on a date with the girl a year before, but she took up with this other guy. I don't know--but I think they wanted to experiment with each other that day, but the guy didn't show up.

So we were in the bedroom together (it was my bedroom, actually). I started stroking her pretty dark-blonde hair. One thing led to another, etc. I was 17, and she was 15. Later, she graduated from MIT at about age 22, and became some kind of accountant. Later, she started selling her art. I only became a data-entry operator, and graduated from college at age 45.

In the 1980s, it got a bit better for me.

it is, at least for guys

in the US most AIDS patients are either homosexual men or IV drug users

I mean I can spell out the reason why but it's not kid friendly

I don't think the social protocol is for the guy to ask a girl out as a cold-call. You only see that in silly you-tube videos about "how to ask girls out" or whatever. In real life it works more like this...

Guy chats with girl -> girl shows some interest non-verbally -> guy asks girl out for a date

You don't just randomly ask girls out. You talk to them normally (as you would anyone else). You ask questions, etc... That's how it really works in the NT world. Guys don't just walk up to girls and point-blank ask for their number. Sure, you can try that if you have a lot of balls and don't care how many times you're rejected, or how rudely you get rejected. It's considered rude, so most likely you will just get a rude response. You might get away with it in a club or bar, but just out and about its definitely rude and creepy.

Not that I can remember. Anyway, as Marshall stated, it's the girls who are in control of asking. Perhaps this is the answer to me original question - "Why is it girls have an easier time getting dates than guys?"
