Humph! I finally finish fixing my hair in front of the mirror only to get this when I return.

Jerks. Although, at least that means you'll both have an easy time finding a girlfriend. :P

Hmmm. What next? Beauty sleep? That's probably good, people might think I'm narcissistic if I look at a mirror for too long.

After looking through some of these threads, I think I know what attracts me more to a guy. Humor or not taking himself so serious. I think guys like this might be misconstrued for being a jerk.

Even my humor comes off sharp and a bit inappropriate...might be an asspie trait.....:P

True confidence is essentially the quality of NOT needing to tell people how awesome you are, because you have become egoless.

I don't know about "egoless". I figure that confidence is feeling comfortable in your own skin and not making trivial stuff into a life and death matter. It's okay to think you're awesome once in awhile. Being able to pat yourself on the back shows that you're comfortable with praise. There's a big difference between someone who's humble and someone who can't take a compliment. It gets pretty tiring reassuring someone that they're not a waste of space. So for my definition of confidence, I imagine a realistic worst case scenario and think how to recover gracefully. If I'm comfortable with that outcome, it changes the way I approach the situation. I can lose the defensiveness, and it really makes approaching women and dating a lot easier.

You also don't come across as desperate.

I have been married to a nice guy for almost 20 years. He has never been a jerk to me or to anybody that I can see. Prior to meeting him I had a couple nice boyfriends but it just didn't work out. In between I dated a couple jerks. And when I say "dated" I mean one date, that one date revealed their jerkiness and that was it.

I'm sure the way you define jerk is wildly different than someone who has never experienced a relationship.

20 years is long time, it's great when things work like that.

My advice for nice guys is to just hit on whoever you find attractive, and see what happens. The worst that any girl can say to you is "no".

That's not true. A girl can either (a) get her "jerk" friends or other guys to batter you for your show of disrespect, or (b) she could have you arrested and charged for harrassment and/or assault. If you are really uncool or unattractive, the above are more likely to happen to you, even for something as simple as approaching someone who is out of your league.

I know!! ! It's ridiculous isn't it? If my first child is a boy I shall plan to name him Sunshower. It is the most masculine name one could ever conceptualize.

...either that or Twig. Or Leaf.

(I like trees, ok? )

...

wow - this tangent is getting very off-topic, how irresponsible of me as the OP of this thread. My apologies.

Really? I've always thought 'sunshower' was a girl's name. In addition, the way you write is very feminine. 'Barry' is an ultimately masculine name.

I was being sarcastic.

Do I really write feminine? How can you tell the difference?

In reality, I think the ultimate masculine name is Arnold Schwarzenegger. You can't get much more masculine than that. Schwarzenegger can be the child's middle name.

Girls actually prefer guys who're nice and understanding to guys who're dicks to other people, it's just about how you put yourself across.
Alot of "nice" guys come across as being weird and alot of guys who're dicks come across as being likeable and friendly.
