I had to take D level math to get into the university, not that I had any use for it, but if you want to reach the goal, you make the effort.
I later decided to study chinese with no particular goal other than for my own interest. Now I've got the possibility to go to china working for some company, or as a teacher, or help out chinese immigrants here. The two latter seems more appealing to me, so I'm aiming for them.
