why do girls think it's hot to act stupid?
"If you don't put out you're a tease" is something that I wouldn't take seriously, no matter who said it. There is such a thing as a tease, but not 'putting out' doesn't amount to being a tease.
I think you're also exaggerating (at least a bit) how much sluttiness you can put into the way you dress before being called names. There are ways of dressing that are more subtly sexy, but won't make people think 'skank' when they see you.
Women who act a certain way, yes, all women, no.
Granted, slut/skank/whore aren't normally applied to men, but there are some insults that are normally only applied to men, such as 'pervert'.
I don't think their objections can be described as objectification. Actually, they could be described as objections to women who invite sexual objectification.

I think society plays a big role. Susceptible girls are still taught in many circles, if not by their parents, than by TV, that looks, self-centeredness and materialism is meaningful and desirable, not depth, intelligence, dignity or self-respect. Therefore they become shallow, because they don't need any depth, nor do men desire it, so they grow up dying their hair, getting fake tits, slouch in school and end up contributing very little to society. I think if individuality was promoted and corporations stopped promoting what was supposedly cool and sexy, there'd be less airheads than you so running around nowadays and people would be encouraged to actually be characters, which is what is hottest to me (Although being a red-blooded male, I do love a good looking woman, of course.).
In the modern age, I see signs of this becoming less and less of a problem. Many girls are going to college, and even joining the military to serve alongside men with the same expectations on their shoulders. Society still has the manipulation of Disney Channel and such networks to contend, but in this respect, society is making progress.

I'd say education will only have so much effect. Its power, they know its power, and they're doing what any human being typically does with power when they feel like they only have so much control over their destiny in other areas - ie. they wield it.

True enough, we're (Thankfully) not in a society in which a large part of it's universal ideology regarding women can basically be summed up in one image:
(Basically, "They function as housekeepers who's sole purpose is to please you. Also, if you don't allow them to perform that function, they'll cry and cry until you let them.". God, the 50s were horrendous, despite how romantically people try and portray it as.)
At the same time, however, I wasn't trying to say that we've stayed at the same level of gender acceptance and diversity. No sane person, man or woman, would try to argue that point. My point was not that women in general are becoming more and more stupid, shallow and materialistic (which I know is an untenable position, as women are now being granted just as many high profile opportunities as men are and are less restricted in what they can do and be. You have female CEOs, female soldiers, more females who are actually doctors, female lawyers, etc.); simply that there are some sources in many (Not most.) circles of society today that we can attribute as root causes for most of the girls who DO degrade into materialistic, shallow and stupid tarts (That is an awesome put down word, by the way. Thank you, England.), whether those causes stem from the social environment and/or the media.
For a few examples on the latter, look at the Child Pageants on Bravo that doll up and sexualize toddlers and tweens and teach them that winning is all that matters and looks are the primary standard by which you should be judged as an individual, or "Daddy's Spoiled Little Girl" (Ugh.) in which a child dresses down her father because *gasp* he didn't get her a pink Ferrari, despite how hard he attempted to make his little brat happy. Look at events which promote "Booth Babes" (E3) or channels which use scantily clad women to drive up ratings. On the former, look towards small towns, in which the "Make me a sammich, woman!"/Wife-beating attitude reins supreme and girls learn to become submissive. For an example of a "Hybrid" town, look at a city like LA, where the mass media and the presence of idolized celebrities breeds a certain type of attitude amongst it's citizens to aspire to be like them, so that they become more materialistic, self-centered and less focused on some more positive attributes like intelligence, kindness, and what have you.
My alternative to censoring shows like you mention, as many feminists seem bent on doing, is to create a balanced view for girls: present them with both the media of the shallow/sexual and responsible/career-oriented. If a girl wants to grow up to become a stripper, I'm okay with that, as long as she arrived at that goal while she was meanwhile being presented with the other potentials of say doctor, real estate agent, etc.
Let her watch Hannah Montana, but also hand her a Wonder Woman comic.

I think most of those women will still chose the stripper career. It takes quite a lot of work & effort to be a doctor. The idea of fast easy money is very appealing. As Miley Cyrus said "There's no need for lay-away. Slide your plastic, flash your cash. Ring it up, it's such a blast. This is the good life. Take a good look have anything you want."
This sounds much more appealing than saving lives to me
