I like your Avatar cartoonie thingie...did you draw it yourself?

I don't think you are being fair in your response to Joker...he was simply stating that in his personal experience he has no issues getting dates and he is not a college student or graduate.

You yourself have drawn upon personal experience to detract from the validity of statements on this forum...and I don't think anybody slapped themselves in the face in frustration...or announced the event.

Haha...'stupidface'....I like that....

Hrm. Naw, don't remember ever using personal exception to argue a rule that was not stated as a rule at all, merely a correlation.
If you refer to my using personal experience to "detract from the validity" of bald categorical declarations, well yes, because one exception would indeed prove relevant.

My avi's from Hyperbole and a Half.

higher ed, as it is practiced here in amuurica [land of the schemers, home of the wageslave], is nothing but a big fat racket, designed to enslave [via wage confiscation of the lifetime earnings of] the majority of its clients. it is a deal made with dark forces high and largely out of sight, to keep the common man down and out, forever at the mercy of the paymasters. i won't have any part of it, even if it marks me as an unmarriageable "no-account." :hmph:

It would be great if everybody had that attitude. Imagine the looks on the faces of the elite when they advertised their non-jobs and non-courses, and NOBODY applied. Mmmmmmm.....solidarity. 8)

If that higher ed is in engineering, or computer science, I beg to differ. You'll make your tuition back, and then some.

Anything else, yeah, it's just creating debt for you.

To be honest, anything not relating to sciences (engineering, medical, etc) you shouldnt need a college degree for. It should be if anything a technical school to teach you how to do that job. Not learn about ancient greek mythology for your mechanical engineer degree. I completely agree with what blabby says

i'm pretty sure it is a good idea to have teachers attend university before they are responsible for educating children.

If I have to take math in order to be a Historian, you have to take Humanities to be an engineer. Fair's fair.

Higher education does open doors, yes. But there is always the basement window :P Or the option of just kicking the door in :P :P

Besides, what really counts is what you do once your inside :P :P :P

Agreed. I once read a Marxist book about software engineers and how they can command remuneration so well that in some cases they receive almost the full value of their labour. Apparently the highly-specialised nature of their work makes it very difficult for the management to analyse what they're doing, so they pretty much have to let them get on with it, and to trust them. Or you could be a banker and get millions just for wrecking the economy of the whole world. Or you could become good at screwing more work out of the staff somewhere............that's usually very well-rewarded, if you can sleep knowing you're a class traitor. Just tell yourself they're the undeserving poor often enough and you'll soon believe it.

Yep I agreed. Prime examples of someone who recently got married. Their names are Tim and Kate, they meet in orientation week in their first year of college. They been in relationship together at the college for four years. Then they graduated together earlier this year and got married last month. They are both now high school teachers. Kate does biology and Tim do the maths. They are qualified and attractive. It got to do with being a uni student open doors more, then afterwards at work place and further training it gets better and better.

A specialized school can easily cost more. I mean... in case you didn't know.
