Me too. I would like it.

Hey, WP is kinda like a family, right? Why don't we get slw and sly together???

No, besides the userrnames, they are not a good match at all, at least from what I recall from slw's previous posts and what I recall from sly's living conditions, sly doesn't meet her standards at all. Let's face it, slw wouldn't like sly.

slw may feel offended for trying to pair her up with sly. ;)

I'm not convinced that the two of them are that hypocritical, if they are at all. I also don't believe in taking anything for granted.

I say we have a match until we are able to prove otherwise.

And if anybody gives anybody flack about it, I say we run a kickstarter campaign to get them together for a 4-day weekend if that's what it takes.

Don't doubt me on this.

It has nothing to do about hypocrisy: slw lives independently for years and has a good job if I recall right, while sly lives with family and works in a very entry job.

I wish your attempt works, it would be a one big happy event on wp  but on paper, it's very unlikely for slw to like sly.

Someone makes a thread about how annoying it is when people try to pair you up with someone->People use the thread to try to make pair ups.

I'd like to hear from them directly on this. I'm choosing to stay hopeful and optimistic. I could do with some good news for a change.

The potential couple in question asked for it. Yes, I get the irony. Why can't we just be happy for them?

A few years ago someone said I'd make a good match for techstepgeneration. I think he's the only person I've ever been matched to on here.

It's not the first time people say it about them, I have seen it 2-3 times before. Perhaps people should mind their business.

If only it were so easy to match people up like that, be it from family/friends or online. I was watching something the other day about arranged marriages in India which seems so foreign to us in the West with our dating culture but if the parties are willing then it seems like a pretty streamlined process. It's a union of families rather than just the two individuals, obviously I don't think people should be forced to wed people they don't want but there are lots and lots of lonely people so I don't think it's such a bad thing to be matched up with someone if you're looking for the same thing. It's just a different way of doing things, I believe they have some sort of government run matchmaking service in Singapore since it's such a problem to get people to marry/settle down/have kids nowadays. It is a real issue when you have such low fertility rates and so many single miserable people, almost all wars in history started with a glut of directionless single young men so is it a problem that needs government involvement?

Perhaps people should just be happy for them and encourage them to be happy together. I tend to ignore negative people and haters.

I believe a stronger family means a stronger government.

I'm not opposed to arranged marriages.

You highlighted something about marriage I think westerners tend to ignore--it's a union of FAMILIES, not just two people. It should have corporate solidarity as its foundation, not "true love" whatever the heck that is. I think marriages fail because selfish kids refuse to enlist the support of their families.

Eh... aren't we jumping a little ahead here? "Be happy for them", when they're clearly not together.

I think constantly trying to push two people together who don't appear to have any interest in each other just makes things awkward and uncomfortable for them. Not to mention the horrific irony of this tangent. Poor Hurtloam, lol.

Some people just can't be happy for others when good things start to happen.

What a shame...

I'm not sure I'd agree with that, I would say that the decline of the American family came with the government replacing so much of it's utility. This new culture may be liberating for a select few but it's miserable for most, gone is religion and our familiar support systems and with it to our communities. The deconstruction of traditional culture has left us with nothing but hedonism; our culture is defined by materialistic and carnal consumerism. I don't feel like people value the family or the fact they need to instill values in their children, there are more people to a marriage than just the husband and wife who can individually act so very selfish. My parents were 'old school' and stayed together to support and raise their family, perhaps that's what messed me up I don't know.
