Well, I think he was interested in
me, to begin with. I'm not really that
way though, but we went for a walk
together.

Great idea, Calandale, I haven't scouted out many suitable math girls to try that one on...
Speaking of, Jaina, what do you think of Gromov's H principle?

:o :)

( Suitable? Never mind. I suppose that's to be gotten into elsewhere. I'm told that I'm difficult.)

Gromov's H principle? Would that be something from hyperbolic group theory? Don't know hardly anything about it, but I confess to finding the idea of hyperbolic geometry generally fascinating. . .

Yeah it relates to Hyperbolic groups and PDE's. It's impressive: imagine solving differntial equations, or at least putting limits on solutions etc by studying the spaces AROUND the solutions points! That's it, in a nutshell. I haven't had enough algebra and DEs to really crack it, but that's what my next goal is, after I survive one semester of grad. classes and teaching! Woo! I'm excited about it. I have my employee number now, and I'm registered for classes as of the afternoon.

Crack it, as in- there are problems with it, there are problems not yet attempted using it where it seems promising- ?

Crack it, as in, I understand the idea and aim of the theory but I'm not ready to actually make use of it. You know how math is, following a proof and able to actually apply it are two different stories. But it's a fun thing whenever you finally understand a new theory enough to make use of it.
