Currently I make 2750$ a month (net after taxes) + few bucks from little freelancing.

Well, not bad per my country's standards.

That and my family doesn’t like the turkey or Christmas dinner and things I ruin everything on top of the fact Christmas is the most depressing holiday.

Why does your family think you ruin Christmas?

I hope they don't get on your case.

I think people shouldn't get on people's cases at Christmas.

9 to 5 pm, 5 days a week, Monday to Friday.

I did some paid overtime lately.

In the culture here, businesses don't think 'hourly wage' really, all here think monthly.

Maybe she sells homemade stuff? Freelancer?

Maybe her parents are rich?

One time a girl aged 23 on a dating app claimed to me in a chat that she owns 4 restaurants , and I was like "Ah....nice" , I mean no one born poor can establish 4 restaurants, come on. It's like when Ivanka Trump tells us how to be rich.

If they're a highly dedicated and charismatic badass, they could pull that off, with time and patience. But at the age of 23? That's a pretty damn successful woman to achieve that from scratch. Of course, we're assuming these four restaurants are actually successful. Any dumbass with some spare cash can get a loan and buy a restaurant or a franchise, then watch it collapse. My grandfather blew the family fortune trying to keep his stupid deli alive. In the end he managed to change the family from upper-middle class to poor. Bloody idiot.

I save my money and have $30k after a year of working. Done cleaning, conservation, and gardening. Not exactly top-tier earner jobs. I could undoubtedly impress banks with what I've got and get a loan to do all sorts of useless crap.

My point in this is that owning a few restaurants might sound really impressive, but it's not necessarily a major achievement.

Frankly I think most entrepreneurs are crazy, most startups fail statistically so I don't understand why anyone would leave a good career in order to make their 'dream business ' , I see 99% of them fail, I only knew one who was successful but he didn't leave his job, it just brings him extra little money.

My coworker is now putting half of what he saved into a mobile app idea - crazy - (and he has no software development background at all - he's just charismatic and salesperson), succeeding in the app market is harder than winning the lottery, literally: https://venturebeat.com/2017/09/24/your ... lmost-nil/

I worked for a guy like that briefly before I got the job I actually wanted this year. They're great at pretending to be strategic & well informed but they absolutely lack the ability to assess their products.

He skipped half his bill even though he had grant money to pay me. Never again.

It's harder to budget when there's a monthly wage.....

What percentage of that goes towards rent, Boo?

Are you trying to arrange me for some marriage, Mr. kk?

Budgeting here is only done on monthly basis, ie. rents/mortgages are paid monthly.

I received around the same wage as you when I worked but I only did 5.5 hrs 5 days a week.

Same as the US---but we usually get paid every two weeks.

I wish I was paid once a week.

I was curious about how the rents are in Beirut. Idle curiosity. That's it :)

Something like "How does a single stay at home parent make enough money to make ends meet?" would have been a good way to go. I know several and aranger, I think it was, mentioned how their mom does it. Many people have told you possible ways. The way the original post was phrased very much comes across as being judgmental of the mom for not working and makes it seem like you think it has to be alimony (ie some wounded ex supporting her lazy butt). There is literally NO way you can know how that specific stay at home mom supports herself unless she chose to tell you. Setting it up aimed at one specific dating site profile of a woman made it feel very judgmental of that specific woman who we literally know nothing about and never will. There is no way to answer how she supports herself.
