Making out the Lebanese all treated women like slaves. No, that's not at all racist. [Sarcasm]

Then trying to turn it onto Face of Boo and make out he's a misogynist to get back at him for calling her out. What a b!tch.

Stop white knighting. It's enablers like you that allow racism and bullying to carry on. Shame on you.

Knock it off

There is more to this than anyone is showing awareness of.

I've reported this thread, the last two pages are off topic responses and are derailing the thread.

Sweetleaf said something very wrong, and was corrected.

I don’t think Boo is a misogynist. He’s a pretty normal guy.

Note only that, she claims that I am pushing my "cult religion" ideology into the forum; also clearly hinting how the US and Europe are culturally superior.

It was a post so racist, ethnicist and so stupid, to the point that probably any forum would have banned her immediately.

And why do you think it's the case? It was often because there was never a consensus among mods in the case you're referring to. Mods are humans too, and some mods in the past were very biased and personal; the current mod team is the most just.

But sorry, I challenge you to find a post of mine which as bigot and discriminating as her post.

Boo, considering the bigger picture and the details not discussed, perhaps let some things be, no need to stir up a storm. This place just needs a match.

We've derailed this thread enough.

Whale Tuune would probably do quite well in the dating world.

She has to watch out for guys who might take advantage of her, though.

I would hate to see Sweetleaf (or any of the other participants in this discussion) banned, I have enjoyed reading her posts for many years. She is actually one of the most mature and insightful people on WP. AFAIK this is the first time she has ever said anything that might be interpreted as culturally insensitive although of course it would be nearly impossible for me to have read everything she has ever posted.

Having said that, I want to point out that she and I are both American, and all our lives we have been subjected to anti-Middle Eastern and in fact anti-Arab propaganda and been conditioned to distrust Arabs and suspect their motives. In particular, once the Soviet Union disappeared as the primary target of our animosity, the Arab world was put in its place. The first major US military operation after the fall of the Soviet Union was against an Arab leader, and from that time forward the US has mostly directed its foreign policy against Arabs (and Iran but still largely Arabs). If you have any idea about how propaganda works, you shouldn't be surprised to hear a basically rational American make an absurdly naïve generalization about sexual attitudes in an Arab country. So maybe she should get a break even though I am shocked and saddened by what she allegedly wrote in that other thread.

Assuming OP is still reading this thread, I have a couple of observations. Like many people here, I don't think she adequately explained her situation. After thinking about this way too much, it would seem that she has had success attracting guys but has never gotten into a serious relationship with mutual respect. I guess she wants to know how to either a.) attract the attention of guys she's interested in but don't notice her or b.) appropriately respond to expressions of interest on the part of those who do show interest in her.

My advice would be to forget the traditional notions of "flirting" and simply use a blatantly straightforward approach. If she wants a date with somebody, she should tell the guy directly, preferably F2F but if not via some other means of direct communication. Why I say this is because, she is not a typical young woman and this sort of direct approach would be consistent with how she and the guy might routinely communicate if they became a couple. My point is that guys who respond positively and respectfully to this approach are probably her best candidates for a relationship.

One other thing. I understand this is personal, however the OP has previously indicated she is religious and has placed restrictions on her sexual behavior. It would greatly help to know a bit more detail about this. This could mean anything from refusing to engage in sexual encounters beyond kissing before her wedding night to simply refusing to have sex outside a serious relationship. The problem is that very few young men her age are going to commit to a long-term relationship that doesn't include some sort of sexually gratifying aspect, although I suspect many would be willing to forgo canonical PIV sex. In saying that, I also don't think many men would be satisfied if given the impression their lover wasn't also enjoying that aspect of the relationship. So whatever her "rules" are, I further recommend that she discuss them in a frank manner with any of her dates, preferably on their first meet-up. Again, if the guy can't handle that discussion on the first date, he's probably the wrong guy.

Maybe I don't do that well with facial expressions but I challenge any of my fellow Americans here to tell me I'm wrong. @smudge I'm sorry if this upset your previously worshipful view of Americans!
