I'm male, and although I desire sex, I beliebe that sex should only occur in a relationship, and since I do not long for a relationship I in turn (technically) do not feel the need for sex. Hooray for run-on sentences.

I would say sex is a important thing but it is
secondary to love for me. When i met my
last girlfriend she had a condition....dont
remember the english word....but anyway,
she was very turned off sex, it was very
stressful for her and we didnt do anything
until 3 weeks into the relationship. She
told me she was just so insecure, it was
very difficult for her and i understood.

It was never in my mind to push her or leave,
she was so fantastic in every way, there was
so many other fantastic things about her and
i wanted to be around her, sex or no sex. After
a while she felt better, things turned "normal"
and then some, and we stuck together for 10
years after that :D Had i though "what? no
nooky?" and left, then i would have missed
out on 10 glorius years with her. Even if she
had waited 2 years instead of 3 weeks, i still
would have been by her side and i would not
have been "waiting" for anything, i would just
have been very happy to be with her either way,
sex can be great but for me love rules over it.

And ^THERE you have your answer to the question you asked in the subject heading of this thread. :D

Oh please, I will not believe that You are a 27 year old virgin

It is possible to live without sex. There is a actually a thread for virgins to sign their name and age in the Love and Dating section of this forum.

Of course it's possible to live without sex! *irritated* But so far every post through out those 11 pages was mocking me, telling me I'm some alien which does not understand human nature...

I am from the same planet, and have nearly survived until my twenty seventh birthday (that will be in January 2009). I have steadily been accumulating knowledge of these humans, and soon shall be able to infiltrate the highest levels of government and overthrow their petty regi... oh (lightly slapping my wrist) that was an alternate Alexander in a parallel universe. Bother.

As a child I used to want to be a monk (I sometimes remind myself of this when I have been indulging in too much self-pity about being single). Even now I wonder if perhaps a permanent career of passionate celibacy might not be the best thing, all things considered, for me, for the maidens, and even for the world. I am rather given to repeated idolatrous infatuations with ladies, and unlike some obsessively fixated people (stalkers for instance) I do not even appear to be especially inwardly faithful, though I very much hope to become so; while I have never had a girlfriend in the conventional sense (though the majority of my friends are female) I seem to desire many different females over quite a short period of time.

I like your new avatar. Is your signature your own creation or is it a quotation? Either way, it's very good.

Having read all the responses to the OP, I have to throw in my two-cents.

I am asexual. I tried to pass as a sexual, for nearly 8 years. I had a child, broke up with her father, and raised her. And then realized that I had no desire to get sexually involved with anyone again. It took me a lot of wasted time, heartache, and frustration to finally come to this realization. I can't help but feel amazed (but not judgmental, you understand) at the ones who swear that they can't live without sex. I have lived without sex for 22 years, and I don't miss it or desire it very much. I would value a relationship with lots of room for down time and solitude, and in which there was no expectation of sex. And of course, a person who doesn't think that a relationship revolves around "nookie."

Not to say I wouldn't ever try for a relationship again. So far, I have found my life to be all the richer without the distraction of bracing myself for a possible relationship in which I would have to "perform" to keep the status quo. I got so weary of men who wouldn't take no for an answer, or who didn't care about the person inside the packaging, etc. Who thought that I would melt, because they complimented my body. All I ever wanted was that wondrous meeting of like minds, that could sustain above and beyond the need for sex. I have not found this. So, I am very comfortable and content with myself, having given myself permission to do what comes most naturally to me. And that is, keep my body to myself.

And for those posters who keep saying "It feels good," please speak for yourself. Not everyone is wired the same way, not everyone experiences everything the same way. I have always found sex to be vastly overrated, but I only presume to speak for myself.

Men crave it naturally. Just say no; that usually works for a little while. Then just say no again.
