We need more bikes & better architecture in cities. This is obviously a groupthink problem in many ways.

Off-topic: Humanity should really need individual cars; if governments invested in public transportation a bit more (a 24/7 and reliable!) then cars would be obsolete.

But that’s idealism; it will never happen for greedy reasons.

I think a better mix of options & more advanced vehicles in general are needed, costs be damned. I've worked on transportation tech in the last couple years & mapping before that. People really have their blinders up these days, staring at a phone in a cab or bus, Ubering or riding electric scooters instead of spinning on a bike etc. As a result no one gets in an outgoing mindset when they go out. Devices have become too intrusive & vehicles have become too much like mobile devices.

I think sports cars are wonderful. Women probably hate my nutty driving but I know it's a skill worth practising. I don't think this is actually off-topic at all, we all need to examine the strange ways people move through the world here.

Without a car you can hardly even meet and date even if you get the chance.

Especially in America. They designed towns with cars in mind. Really bad planning.

I live in a city with a regular bus service and have friends and colleagues who bus or cycle into town. I even have one friend who takes bus trips to remote places for days out.

I understand that our American friends don't have that luxury.

I think fashion sense is a big factor anyone's choice of car too, unless it's a bare necessity point a to b kind of thing, even then there are style points to be scored.

I'm quarantined over here resisting the urge to buy something insanely fast, for fun & unfortunately for status. I just like speed since it's good for a laugh now & then. I think it's important to buy or even build things that make people happy or enthusiastic. It's sad to me that there's so much hierarchy implied.

Design language deserves just as much thought from guys here as body language or "love language". I'm kind of just learning that now that I'm working on architectural tech. It's a very subtle world after all.

Can some women try to tell me what I should drive?

I'm not buying that but the advice would be incredibly appreciated.

I never understood the thrill until I started driving my Bug. I bought it last year and she gets up and goes quick, and I totally get it now.

Actually depends where you live. I used to live in an apartment in the CBD and work was walking distance. Hardly anybody uses a car when they work in the CBD. Dating involved catching up in the city for a coffee or a drink. A lot of the girls met each other and their male friends via free public transport,

That’s the way it is in Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn.

I didn’t get my license until age 37—partially for maturity reason, but partially because the part of Queens I lived in my then had decent public transportation.

A lot of Australian capital cities have free metro transport. Melbourne has trams and eBuses (smart bus) so its less expensive than spending money on petrol guzzling motor cars and overly expensive parking fees. It's also relaxing and hassle free,

If I wasn't married with a wife/child/dog I would rent in the city.

I would never want to be without a car again.

I grew up with the slogan of 'it's funner to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow' embedded in my brain. :ninja:

Anything black, clean interior, and non-cluttered inside -- with good music and a spot for her to put her drink.

My ex used to put stuff in the coffee holder and it drove me mad.

Personally I would go for an Audi if I could afford it. I drive a VW which is under the same company umbrella and I love how solid they are.

Audi's are stylish, but not too ostentatious like a BMW or a huge SUV.

Also known for good cup holders.

But wouldn’t you rather drive a fast car fast? :p

I'm not sure if it's in the budget anytime soon but Golf Rs are pretty awesome. I need evaluate where I sit when I get upgraded from my internships.

Still, part of me wants something flashier.

I like "slow car fast" but it's just ultimately pretty unsafe. Unless I get something big & boring for outdoor trips my next car needs more style than my little Volvo, despite the fact I already love my car (it's a lot like a cheaper Golf R); it just doesn't scream available bachelor in any way.

Not on the road, that won't make me feel like a rally driver.
