Hi everybody,
I'm Ryan and I'm 21. I was diagnosed with AS when I was 11, and while I did fairly well with coping with most of the issues that AS results in, after I turned 19 things really started getting hard for me, and over the last year, I've returned to seeing professionals, and been doing to a massive load of research on my own, which has brought me into contact with other aspies for the first time in my life. For a long time I was really turned off by the idea of talking with other people who have AS, but as I've gotten older I've wizened up and seen the benefits it has. I'm mostly a lurker; I do post intermittently, but I rarely engage the community full time.
Here are a few facts about me:
- I'm a vegan, but I am not the preachy or obnoxious kind, I just find it very satisfying in my personal life, because I adore animals, and I like the community behind it. No I'm not going to tell you what to eat, but in the event I see 'mindless vegetarian/vegan-phobia rants' (ie I f***ing hate vegans and I can't understand why they're such p*****s!) I will respond quite directly. I might also on occasion 'lightly' stick up for Peta, but not too much, because a good portion of those folks are quite deluded.
- I'm an obsessive atheist, and a 'tad bit' sacrilegious ; theists if I accidentally (or on some occasions intentionally) say something that you find offensive, please understand that I'm not making a personal attack on you, I just have a lot of personal angst and anger at religion, particularly Christianity.
- I'm bisexual and my highly casual openness about it often takes NTs off guard. However, given the rather high proportion of LGBT people withing the aspie community, I doubt I'll have to worry about homophobia here.
- I'm an obsessive fan of table top RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, the World of Darkness, Warhammer FRP, and many others.
