I heard the guy who named Greenland did it to attract more settlers, so he basically bullshitted the people back home.

Holland originally meant wood land, but it now has the lowest percentage of forest land in Europe.

Nice foxies! thanks for the videos and images. Maybe I'll finally be able to distinguish fox from a raccoon :)

I get that you don't think you'll be able to visit Japan ever, that's too bad. I just don't get why do they forbid having foxies as pets in your states while in some others they don't?

well my state did it simple because only 19 people owned exortic animals and they like making laws so why not ban them.
littery what they said. minus the making laws part.

others do it because they are worried people will kidnap foxes or let their pets lose and breed with foxes. so some states say you can have them if they aren't native to there. but really should be exceptions. the russian foxes for example come spayed.

other states you can have them only if you kill and skin them in a fur farm :(

:( that's makes so little sense, why treat them worse than any other pet animals? as if cats or dogs or any other pets have any greater inherent value...

Maybe it is also legal to farm cats and dogs for their fur? I think it's just that there is little demand for it, because people don't want to wear fur from cats and dogs but if it's from another animal that is similar, it's all ok. Meh, I don't see a reason for people in warm climates to wear fur anyway, it is ridiculous. I understand why people in Siberia want a fur coat but when I look outside and see people with a dead animal around their neck during summer I just want to call them idiots.

Interesting map I found (not even about cats! But it has Germany on it so that's on topic for this thread). Map of GDP by purchasing parity, so this map shows were the wealthiest bits are. Check out Germany vs France or Britain, last two countries are very centralised and it shows, everything happens in Paris/London, rest of the country is farked. Also note the "fertile crescent" from London to Rome via Germany.

I fully agree as it seems so haphazardly and whimsically done. Dogs and cats are protected in some areas, because they've been domesticated and kept as pets, same for some other animals. But in China they're being eaten in a rather cruel manner, and all because of some tradition. In some areas they treat animals as mere utilities, in other they glorify them, and some dogs, I heard, even have their own shrinks

i'd call them idiots as well, those who can skin seals alive and other animals for fashion industry so that rich snobs can show off...

still it makes little sense, I heard people own anything from pythons to piglets as pets, why not foxes?
