Might go on forever if you're both cool with it.

Why on my turf exactly?

Most people think of dating and marriage as this huge complicated ordeal.
I'm just saying that there is a simpler way to think about it.

I'm sure you have a good aim here but you're throwing a pretty big curveball into it. I couldn't find the German translation of the original phrase but it goes something like "Don't s%^ where you eat", I tend to be one of those. A year or so in, sure, trying to mack on a roommate? It would take a heck of an odd set of circumstances - let alone to say "A female roommate!? Sign me up!".

Yea, but in that pic in particular she's not wearing baggy pants or huge shirts :P, she's just half naked.

I think the reason1 why men would avoid such women is because they would feel embarrassed to be seen with a 'fashion-less' and geeky looking woman. Same why women avoid typically-looking geek men.

And I didn't understand what you said about being someone's last resort.

Like both are desperate for a relationship, so they would date each others for that reason.

I find all those assumptions baffling until I remind myself that my taste in women is a bit weird anyways...as much as I want to give advice and assurances, TBH I'm far from representative of, well, any group or 'type' so I don't know if it would count for much.

e.g. I read "...a pair of glasses, flannel shirts and geeky interests..." and thought "that's cool." Ok, it describes me right down to the ground too, but eh...hang out with someone similar to you, and he/she will be able to understand you, at least. :P I recall the term 'geek chic' being bandied around at one point and I don't think it was sarcastic or ironic either. At least I hope it wasn't, because the idea that geeky girls have nothing to be ashamed of deserves to catch on.

For the record, I'd much rather go out with a geeky chick than a stereotypical feminine chick. Any day.

Yes, well, those things do happen. I don't know what to say here. If both people are ok with it, I sure don't want to judge them. But as long as they're honest about it.

I mean, it's not like I've never been in the "last resort" situations...

The problem is, just like with the "friends with benefits" concept, this can work as long as both people are on the same page. The moment one of them starts feeling differently, it all breaks. So if one of the partners in the "last resort" doesn't feel the same way, or starts flirting with others and then leave his/her "last resort" partner, it can get ugly. Then the partner will feel used and even more miserable than before.

Just for the record, I'm not "fishing for compliments". I know there are guys who like geeky girls and that's ok. (Though being a "geek chick" is different than being an Aspie, but that's another issue). Hey: there's a plenty of guys who like geeky girls, and there's plenty of girls who like geeky guys.

The problem is the fact when people "whine" about not being able to find a partner but refuse to even acknowledge those who don't fit some imaginary standards. Even if we talk about physical appearance only, I can guarantee you that men have a huge trouble picking the prettiest girls; they go after the most popular and the most dressed up ones. And women have a similar problem.
