Same here. I was so insecure as a teen. Plus, I looked like a kid and that's usually the last thing you want as a teen. I do think confident people are more attractive because they shine and they have a certain glow that makes them more attractive. I'm not into egoists and narcissists so there IS such a thing as having too much confidence (it is annoying and it makes you less attractive), but I do think a bit of confidence and maturity is needed.

For reals. :D

And to jump on the "then and now photo bandwagon"

2006 - I was almost 17 in this shot. Was my senior photo.

2011 - Senior year. I'm 21 here. This was for a friend's photo shoot.

I dunno about you but I think I look better in the second shot. That's just me though, thoughts? :)

Aaahhhh the beauty of youth. The shiny hair, smooth forehead and sparkly eyes are what age takes away. But age takes it away far more slowly than the unhealthy habits people are talking about in this thread. So stay away from those and you can hang on to this for a lot longer.

Awww, I don't think mine has faded at all yet. I think I'll have it for a while yet. :D

Go to all the soccer games in my neighborhood and have you translate the swear words for me? Hee.

Actually, I have an Antonio Carlos Jobim CD and some Elis Regina CDs. I will be studying up on them (where they sing in Portuguese).

Yay, I await your arrival!

Unlike most Brazilians (seriously, I think more than 90% of the population here treats soccer as a religion), I do not really like soccer, but who could pass an opportunity to teach swear words to foreigners? Count me in! :D

By the way, if you like Elis Regina, you should listen to her daughter, Maria Rita. Her voice is incredibly similar to her mother's: she is amazing.

Portuguese is the one with the lisp, right?

Depends on the region. In Portugal, there is a very noticeable lisp, but here in Brazil, we have wildly different regional dialects, not unlike the US. I guess that is to be expected, since this country is ridiculously large and diverse. For example, the city I live in, São Paulo, has noticeable influences from the Italian immigrants (one of them was my great-grandmother, actually). :P

Guys, learn some PUA skills and use them on women while they are young and hot. If you wait for too long, the hot chicks will become old and fat single mothers of no value to studs like us.

Not particularly interested in the BS that comes with dating.

When it comes to old and fat single mothers, the question I ask is "What's in it for me?"

I could swear this is not the same girl in both of these photos.

But then again, it's the Internet and no one here can know who we really are or what we really look like.

It's good to stay anynomous though because there are many people in the world who would take advantage of innocence.

One can change a lot in 5 years, no?

I am careful about what info I do share. I would never reveal my address or anything like that. That would be stupid as there are people who would try to find me. For what purposes, I don't know but I'm playing it safe.

I think I improved with age, too. I was pretty dorky looking in high school, and am more conventionally pretty now (@26). I think it's partly because my hair is now longer.

Were you referring to physical ugliness?

Yeah, getting old works as advertised. Quite a discovery. Look at Mel Gibson circa 1982 versus today. Look at Tom Hanks.

There is a range where some people grow into their features and can improve their look for a time. But diminishing returns will kick in, followed by worse.

I don't know; I agree that there are a lot healthier choices in Europe. I lived there for a while and I noticed their organic fruit was amazing and there weren't as many fast food restaurants. I cannot say I agree with the "tend not to drink in excess". I drank more in Europe at 16 than I do in America at 22. I did also live in Germany and I'm sure countries vary (not to mention the legal drinking age).

Beauty is temporary because life is temporary.
