So here's a visual guide for body fat percentages. Personally, I'm sitting at about 15%

For women:

I find 12% and 17% too toned.

20% to 30% are all very attractive in my opinion, 35% is passable. More than that it's too much for me but I am sure some others would like them.

Eureka, why in the non-western countries the poor aren't obese?

Because they don't have access to all the cheap crap food that us 'murricans have. It costs much less to eat unhealthy crap in this country than it does to eat healthy. Who here is unfamiliar with the "Ramen diet"? Cheapest food you can buy, loaded with salt, fat, carbs.

Also, most of America's gene pool comes from western Europe. Western Europe has had its share overweight people since medieval times (mostly the middle and upper classes). Guess who founded this nation? Yup, the middle and upper classes of western Europe.

The Asian, Eurasian, and African gene pools historically do not have as high an incidence of overweight people. They also eat less meat and dairy than Europeans and Americans. The two things may be related, they may not. There was a very popular "Asian diet" 20-25 years ago, where people tried to lose weight eating more like traditional Asians. It didn't work very well, and rapidly fell out of favor. Why? Because western DNA is just different enough from eastern DNA that what seems to work very well for people of Asian origin doesn't do the trick for us westerners.

Abstract
A review of 144 published studies of the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES) and obesity reveals a strong inverse relationship among women in developed societies. The relationship is inconsistent for men and children in developed societies. In developing societies, however, a strong direct relationship exists between SES and obesity among men, women, and children. A review of social attitudes toward obesity and thinness reveals values congruent with the distribution of obesity by SES in different societies. Several variables may mediate the influence of attitudes toward obesity and thinness among women in developed societies that result in the inverse relationship between SES and obesity. They include dietary restraint, physical activity, social mobility, and inheritance. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)

But why only the women?? If only I can get this study.

I am still puzzled by this study, why only poor women are more likely to be overweight while poor men and kids are not? (in developed countries?) Aren't all eating the same cheap crap you're talking about Eureka?

I'm glad MDD123 didn't post female equivalents of 3-4% and 6-7%, because the 10-12% one looks a little scary as it is! Those first two males... wow... why do they do this to themselves?

Anyway, I think all 5 of the girls from "Ms 15-17%" to "Ms 35%" have good bodies, though my preference would be for "Ms 35%".

Men have testosterone, which is a natural muscle builder and fat burner. Men don't naturally begin to put on weight until their 40s-50s, after their body's testosterone production naturally drops off.

FWIW, overweight men probably have it worst of all, with two strikes against them. Because of testosterone, they are supposed to be lean, without having to work at it (ever seen a teenage boy eat?); second, they have society's perceived standards of beauty to overcome. Trust me, a corpulent 15-yr-old male is probably not that way simply because he's a glutton.

Hell yes. I get angry at really fat people because being super obese is akin to smoking in terms of social aggravation. I wouldn't bother telling anything to people who are bed ridden with obesity because their lives don't impact mine in any way, but I would wonder why they want to be that way.

Oh hang on, I only just realised what you were saying. you mean, people are being polite when they tell me I am not fat? Well, this is what I always assume but frankly, they could just say nothing when I say I am fat or say 'eat less you fatty' with a smile, it would be perfectly appropriate in my book. Some fellow fatties have given me their weight loss plans and suggested things but I can't cope with those for some reason. Anyway, the point is that everyone starts to get angry at me for claiming that I am fat which makes me wonder. Like, why do people feel the need to be angry at the truth?

I see no difference between the women at 15, 20, 25 and 30 % - and why are there no extremes?

how about these two - which one would you rather date and why?

Testosterone does not magically makes you lean, which is why the ideal fat levels of women (from a medical point of view) is that of a man + 8%. If a man loses too much fat, the body adjusts the testosterone levels down to prevent further fat loss. Men "naturally" have 15-22% bodyfat; abs become visible at 8% bodyfat. A man has 20 times the testosterone level of a woman, but only a 20% faster metabolism, mostly from the increased muscle mass.

I would rather die alone and be eaten by hyenas than have to be in the same room with either one of those women for more than 30 seconds.

I'd date the concentration camp victim before the female Incredible Hulk cause the concentration camp victim's face looks relatively normal.

The guy on the bottom is photoshopped. Ronnie Coleman in really life "only" had 24" arms in his prime. He's still looking buff at an age of almost 50, though:

Speaking from a purely Darwinian point of view, social conditioning and media has obviously affected the taste of young women when Justin Bieber is more attractive than this, though:

OK so Guys this question is for you. As you see women come in all shapes and sizes, but if you had two chose between two specific type body shapes, which would you prefer: Slightly underweight women or Curvy/slightly overweight?

Slightly underweight for me. I prefer a slender figure with a nice bottom.

I've watched a study yesterday on the local news showing that obesity among kids is rising insanely, one school has a rate 50% of kids overweight. Possible reason#1: The introduction of western fast food chains such as macdo, kfc, bk, subway in the last decade.

Everytime I go to a Macdo (like once in ages), I notice it's always full of teen students with their bags after school time.

Lol The world is getting fatter indeed.
