None of what you say is necessarily "passed on through genes."

Here's a question for you Boo. Do you like children?

I like them enough to be around for maybe a couple of hours every so often. I don't want one living in my house. I think I'd go crazy. I find children very tiring and I'm tired all the time anyway. Having to parent a child would lead to a life of complete exhaustion for me.

First of all, I think it's pretty likely that most people would feel very differently about a child and their child. I don't really like being around other people's children, but I get the distinct impression that I'd feel differently about children who I've contributed to creating, in the same way that I feel differently about music that I've created myself and other people's music. Challenges are inevitable with children, but that doesn't mean they're not ultimately worth it, but I guess it depends who you ask.

Also, children don't stay children forever.

What Grand said, also I have mixed feelings about it.
It’s like I find it pointless to even think whether I want kids or not.

I wouldn't mind getting more children. Would be fun. It can take half a lifetime to find a suitable soul mate.

Ah so you're open to the possibility. I am not at all.

I'm scared I meet someone and everything else works, but he wants children. I really, really don't.

So then like I said in the other thread, you'd be smart to figure out a strategy to get that information off of anyone you fancy before you even so much as imagine having a relationship with that particular guy.

Of course, your own child has much better chances of disappointing you utterly. If the kid grows up into a total ratbag you'll spend the rest of your life wondering what you did wrong.
