I think of being overweight due to lifestyle choices as a personality, not physical flaw. This kind of self-neglect is incompatible with my values. Ability to overcome your bad habits, cravings, to stick with a diet and exercise regimen is indication of discipline and motivation, caring about your physical and mental health, this is what I find very attractive. Attractive body is just a nice bonus of these attractive personality traits.

Where the French toast do you find guys that are willing to date a woman that is overweight(in abundance)? I have seen overweight women in relationships but they usually didn't start out that way. We as men need to stop lying to women that being overweight is okay and they are just fine. We certainly don't give these sort of lies to men so why do we do it for women!?(I am sorry OP if you aren't overweight right now but last I checked you said you were please correct me if I'm wrong) Also if we can talk about men and their body structures like it's no big deal than why can't we do the same for women? It's harsh to hear but, I'm just saying it like it is.

I know guys who actively prefer BBWs, and would rather date an overweight woman than a thin woman.

Insecurity is unattractive at any weight, though. So how about we stop encouraging women to be insecure about their weight?

Who is this "we" of whom you speak; and exactly how are "we" encouraging insecurity?

 "Encouraging insecurity" is an oxymoron, by the way.

I tend to be more attracted to women who are insecure but I majorly try to make my partner feel more secure about her weight & other aspects about herself. I'm a rare Aspie guy who wants to be emotionally supportive within a romantic relationship. Plus people who are very self-confident tend to look down on me believing that they are a lot better than me. I WANT my partner to respect & appreciate me & in my experience insecure women are more likely to.

But you can lose excess fat and pear/apple obesity patterns would not apply to you at all. You can widen your shoulders by increasing volume of your deltoid muscles. You can make your hips more pronounced by increasing volume of your glutes and fasciae latae muscles. You can slim down your waist by improving tone of your core muscle corset. This is very feasible with proper diet and couple 30 min workouts a week. Yes, you can't make your bones longer or shorter, but thinking of soft tissues, especially fat, as something you have no control over is just wrong.

Agreed. 8)

Idk I think if you had a group of women that are equally fit and same height but they all represent a different body shape they would look different if they were lined up standing next to each other with no clothes. Like some would have shorter legs some would have longer, some would have bigger hips, some smaller some would have shorter torsos or longer and so on and so fourth. Of course a person can exercise and improve muscle tone and all that but it wont change the way their body is shaped entirely.

Even if I lose weight, I’d still have stretch marks and scars from a surgery I had years ago. I can’t pay for those to change because in order to keep my benefits, I can’t work a traditionally “successful” job (success varies from person to person). Hopefully everyone will get what they want and I know I can get what I want and not be a slave to society’s physical and non-physical ideals.

This thread has proved that I have a personality and how being shallow is a horrible trait. Now excuse me while I sit with my plushies and think about that Moomin coloring book I’m getting with my Christmas money.

Adipose tissue is a major endocrine organ, having too much body fat is objectively bad for your physical and mental health, increase in circulating levels of macrophage-derived factors secreted by adipose tissue leads to low-grade systemic inflammation contributing to variety of issues, clinical depression among other things. If you can, losing excess fat would objectively improve quality of your life, your health, even financial situation. I strongly encourage you to stick with your intention and hit your goal weight. It has nothing to do with society and beauty ideals.

Losing weight has a health benefit apart from looking better.
It becomes more important the older you get, and Covid luvs chubby people. 8O
Don't let scarring deter you from getting to your ideal weight. 8)

I have seen them on here before. I was trying to find them again. There should be some unless she deleted them.

The problem is, there is no even playing field.

E.G.
People with more efficient metabolisms find it easier to keep in shape.
People who have been psychologically abused have more trouble "getting their shite together".
People who have low incomes tend to eat poorly, encouraging greater fat development.
People may not have the required knowledge to effectively lose weight.

Simple discipline is simply one factor in the equation. 8)

Yes, there are all sorts of preferences that men and women have, but *most* men prefer women who are not heavily overweight.
Some of this is due to social influences.
Some have to do with genetically inspired preferences.

Most people want to find a partner who will produce healthy children.
Healthy men and women are generally considered a better "catch".

As I say, most relationships are superficial (and self-servicing).
Humanity, as a species, is a very selfish beast. 8)
