For me, the hardest part is finding someone on here I would actually be interested in (and who would be interested in me).

Tim

I don't know who Heather is, but Gwen would fit right in with my group of friends... I think.

Ha. In reality, I'm one of those people who literally can't even kill flies.

Just the same, there's only one person I'm planning on meeting.

Not even the flies that use not gooder grammar?

Even those. I rarely even call people out on it. The last time was when someone accused someone else of being "ingramatical". (He and I were the ones talking, but it was in reference to another post.) Honestly, I couldn't even understand half of what he said, and I'm usually pretty good at picking my through any spelling/grammar issues.

Ah, I'm pretty lax in my use of grammar. Or at least proper sentence structure, my posts are more stream of consensus ramblings... I try to pick up stuff that doesn't work. And at least make my thoughts coherent.

I have a tendency to make rambling paragraphs... which isn't unnecessarily bad grammar... but no one wants to read my posts then.

Added: So I just punctuate each sentence as it's own mini thought... and don't really work in paragraphs anymore.

Most of mine start to ramble if I don't catch myself. My grammar has actually gotten worse since I joined here. I write like I talk (unless I'm thinking about writing, like now) - run on sentences and a lot of sentences starting with "and" or something similar.

I just happen to like the avatar.

All the terrible illiteracy on the net lowers everyone's grammar standards. It ret*ds the use of English.

The desiccation of the English language certainly is an epidemic. At the same time, I'm sort of glad that everyone else is getting stupider. Pretty soon I will be the only thinking mind left and the world will be mine to control :P.

Good, I find the rules of English sort of ret*d myself... more loosening of the rules gives me greater ability to express my thoughts.

My intelligences aren't in linguistics...

Oh please...please...don't relax decent writing standards
more than they are. 'Tis a sign of absolute disrespect for
the readers. Hell, I'm posting s**t drunk - and I have to
correct it and correct it. People can show SOME consideration
for their readers.

Showing respect for readers, and following strict grammar rules is not one and the same. For me at least.

I could follow all the grammar rules, and still create incoherent thoughts...

I find the standard sentence structure restrictive in conveying my ideas... it's still important... to a point... but not absolutely. Conveying exactly what I want to convey is important, heck editing a post is more common for me... than just letting it be.

How did this become a discussion about grammar?

Tim
