That could be the aspie in me, but I think your just being modest. I grew up with people from every continent and a lot of different countries and cultures and they shared the same sentiment. ( except for Italians, they throw modesty out the window and are proud of every bit of their country and culture, damn them).
New Zealand males are mostly dicks. All they do is go on about how ugly New Zealand females are and how they wished they were in Europe. It will be good to leave to just get away from them.

Keeping in mind the age of this post, I'm a new zealand male and I think kiwi females are fine - just like any other female.
My brother used to live in australia and had that attitude at the time, though. Now he's moved back here his views have changed.
I think most kiwi men who put down kiwi women are feeling defensive - either they feel inadequate / not good enough for them, or have had too many bad experiences and have generalised that.
