I have to disagree with OP.
I don't blame the area I live for my lot. If someone truly believes that then move! I have many times. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, but you can take it in stride if you're in control. If you just sit back and lament then, yea, it is you.
And yea, different places have different people. Flocks of a feather etc. Travel, experience other cultures, and find one that you can live with.
