Bring back arranged marriages?

Meanwhile, out here on the best coast of Canada they're pretty common - especially among Indian immigrants. Most people here have heard of Indian immigrants having arranged marriages. It was only a couple of years ago that a Chinese acquaintance told me that arranged marriages are quite common in their culture & that many immigrant Chinese parents pressure their kids to get an arranged marriage. This surprised me, as it's "pretty much unheard of" - because they're a very quiet/non-showy culture and they don't advertise these things.. meanwhile, Indians have massive flashy glitzy 3 day wedding parties and there have been many newspaper articles about arranged marriages here in the West etc etc so it's common knowledge.

So, just because it's unheard of where you come from doesn't mean it doesn't happen.. maybe you just literally haven't heard of it? Could happen. But then again, if you don't have a mass influx of people from cultures that have arranged marriages, maybe it doesn't happen where you're from.
