[But would your subsequent girlfriends have liked you the same if you hadn't already learned these lessons with Miss BPD?

I learned the lessons in the first 4 months. I ended it after 18 months and it took me almost a full year to get over her completely, screwing up man potential relationships as a result. I dreamed of killing her and had suicidal thoughts and I am a happy go lucky person. Does that answer your question?

Quote:
Yes but do women feel that way about men?

Can't speak for the ladies but I imagine they would prefer an inexperienced caring guy over a skilled jacka$s.

Quote:
That's good to know. So they won't think I'm a creep if I try.

Just do it casually and without fear. I told my current GF I am falling in love with her hard. She did not reciprocate but I did not worry about it and continued on. Women take a little longer and she knows how I feel. If she runs away, it wasn't meant to be.

Quote:
So there's a way to tell they're single right? Because sometimes I've known young women for months without them mentioning they had a boyfriend yet they had one all along. It's easier to confirm a positive than a negative.

At your stage, I would not even worry about that. Besides, women talk. A lot. Do you not stop to consider she might have a single best friend or be on the rocks with the current boyfriend. Don't even worry about it at this point.

Quote:
Yes I know that any woman would be horrified to be used in such a way but I'm not doing it to impress current gf, I'm doing it to impress the girl(s) who follow. They wouldn't like it either, if they were to know what I'm doing now but they don't need to know. As you said, there is no background check in dating. They can think my ex was just a normal relationship that failed of it's own accord.

Ugh.

Are you completely blind here? You KNOW what you are doing is wrong yet you are continuing to do it. BPD or not she has every right to be enraged with you and any healthy women would have ran for the hills. There might not be a background check but (healthy) women can usually spot deception and liars right away. You are only making things worse for yourself at this point and are just going to keep attracting these same types of women over and over again.

Using the current GF to "impress" the next one is practically the most textbook definition of Narcissism you can get. I genuinely feel sorry for the girl you are seeing even if she is crazy: what you are doing to her is cruel, plain and simple.

That methodology is really not smart, nor is it morally right--impressing the "next girl!"

Now...that's treating your present girlfriend like horse manure!! !! !

Now I wonder if Link would risk his life to save Zelda if she gets fat.

Guy starts thread to justify his possession of a f**ktoy, and continues to rationalise his behaviour through dehumanising the defective girl for seven pages.

Oh - so there's no progress at all, just more pages.

Instead of actively searching for a relationship, I think it makes more sense to pursue your hobbies and interests in a way that will allow you to practically bump into them. Driving solo in a car to work is less "open" than taking public transportation, for example (I dated 3 different guys I met commuting on a ferry to work back in the day; just people I ended up sitting next to).
Hmmm. I'm not sure if that works for me. I catch the train to work. I see many beautiful young women on the train. We sit in silence.

Sometimes one of them will look at me. Usually one sitting a few rows from me. A different girl each time. Sometimes they stares blankly, sometimes she stares and smiles. I don't know if it's because they like me or if they're thinking "why is that weird guy furtively glancing at me?". Even if they were into me I'm not quite sure how to respond back nonverbally. Someone on Yahoo Answers suggested mouthing "Hi". Typically these girls are outside of speaking range and I'm even worse at giving signals than I am at reading them.

If it's a nearly empty train it would seem weird for me to sit right next to one. If it's a nearly full train a young woman will occasionally sit next to me. We sit in silence and I watch as she reads on her Samsung Galaxy Note (girls nearly always have those, I think because they're purse sized). Often they're also listening to music on headphones, which doesn't help much. The problem is nowadays people have all these social isolation devices e.g. phablets, headphones, etc. I find it to be frustrating and dehumanizing (though I must admit I'm equally guilty since on the train I'm often either on my 3DS or my laptop. Actually I'm typing this on the train right now (no there aren't any twentyager women sitting near me at the moment).

Joining groups is more "open" than pursuing things on your own. And so on. You can't make relationships happen, but you can live your life in such a way that increases the odds of them happening organically.
Hmmm. Didn't work in the past. When I was 20 I almost hit it off with this girl at TAFE (technical college). I thought going back there would help but I find night classes to be a very different experience. No one socializes in night classes. We sit in silence
[/quote]

So, break the silence. Not always, just sometimes. When there is an opening for it. Possible openings: a favorite song of yours shows up the girl next to you's phone; she takes out a book that you've been wanting to read so you ask her how she likes it so far; if it is someone you've noticed often, you can start saying a simple "hi" every time you see her; if they seem stressed and rapidly get onto a computer to keep working, you can comment, "work never ends, does it?" (and then be respectful of her need to work - but she will remember that you opened up a dialogue and might say hello next time she sees you and is less busy).

One guy I went out with must have been noticing me for a while, because he commented on it when I had just gotten past a deadline and was able to take home an earlier ferry, saying, "hey, hi, haven't seen you on this ferry for a while."

Don't limit getting friendly to people you are actually interested in dating; instead, decide that since these are people you see every day, getting to know a few isn't a bad idea. Once you start a network, it tends to expand naturally.

And you don't go asking someone out the first time you talk to them; you find out if they usually take the some train and car and then keep the conversation going over multiple commutes for a while. Those conversations will let you figure out if this is just someone you can share a friendly commute with, or can date. But there is no loss in having someone you can share a friendly commute with.

Hmmm. Maybe I really should stay with her. We has a pleasant evening together and I thought it would be a shame to lose her.

My psychologist saud if I'm worried about what my family thinks of hwr that's my problem and I should stop seeking their approval.

I told gf I wasn't ready for her to move in yet and she said that was OK. She said she understood it would be a big step for me.

See Sly, before you say you're undeserving know that you'd make a far better boyfriend than I do. I bet you wouldn't be indecisive like me either. You really are deserving of a girlfriend. One day you could make some girl very happy.

I hasn't been four months yet. Anyway, I think instead of leading her on I should try for real. Maybe our relationship will die by itself but hopefully not.

I was going to post more or less the same thing. Excellent!

I was going to say, just be firm - it's normal for her to test her limits but I thought she would respect your decision if you're up front about it.

Perhaps this thread can enter the history books now.

I liked seeing him draw a boundary, have it go well, and start to feel hope for the relationship, too.

Good luck, RetroGamer.

treating women like humans, and being nice is something expected by everyone. so it doesn't qualify as deserving.
its a base quality women expect all men to be kind, so they don't include it in qualities. I lack the required qualities, thats that. right now I need to decide if I want to live or not as tomorrow is the day I came in to the world and should go out then too. so yearly time to seriously consider whether I want to keep living or not.

Say yes to that question. Always say yes. Of course it is better to live.
