Maybe I'd be less inclined to respond at all if certain male posters would stop using any excuse to malign women. As for who was "wrong" in this situation, I have no idea because I wasn't there, and I don't know either Retro or his girlfriend well enough to make that judgement (and neither do you).

How about everyone stops trying to turn this into yet another Men v. Women thread, and we focus on helping Retro? Thanks.

If anyone goes over the top insulting women with generalizations you have the faculty to admonish them, I don't understand why you chose to say that stuff to me instead. I am not a misogynist, I am a misanthropist and many guys here (including OP) can confirm that in the past I had no troube maligning them when I thought they deserved it.
From what we know here it's blatantly obvious that his girlfriend is at fault, and if he is withholding any key information in the end he will only damage himself and his relationship. If we can only respond after hearing all the people involved then you should close all threads like this unless they invite the other person, and a good number of them are made by women asking for advice too.
But hey, if someone likes walking on eggshells in their relationship her behaviour is totally ok and I have nothing to object.

Also, XFiles, the first user who turned the OP issue into a Woman vs Man thing was hale_bopp (woman) back on the SECOND page of this thread:

hale_bopp wrote:
Does she not choose her own meals at restaurants?

Tbh that just sounds like a typical man/woman spat to me.

Woman gets pissed off and expects man to read to complicated manual and figure out why.

Though choosing food for other people isn’t a good idea if they’re picky eaters. I brought a meal to some geeky a***hole I dated and he threw it in the trash and told me he won’t eat mushrooms and made vomit gestures. So glad I ghosted that guy in the end.

and then Lullulululuh (woman) agreed with her on page 2 as well:

I was thinking this too. Does she pick her own dinner?

If you are choosing it for her - why? Does she WANT you to choose it for her?

So it was the ladies of this thread who turned it into a Man vs Woman topic, not me or PeaceSells. Ha!

They often accuse our gender of being expressionless of our feelings and emotions - yet we see many women justify the silent treatment.

Isn’t that funny
?

No guys, the misogyny is from these two posts and statements which I bolded.

Misogyny doesn't necessarily have to be hate. It can manifest itself as scorn and distain and making sweeping statements that suggest all women behave as a monolith with some kind of a hive mind mentality.

Please stop trying to make excuses for your behavior and just grow up.

Oh, and hale_bopp's post didn't have any kind of the 'misogyny' you are referring to? she literally said:

Quote:
Tbh that just sounds like a typical man/woman spat to me.

Woman gets pissed off and expects man to read to complicated manual and figure out why.

Isn't it that a sweeping generalization? She was clearly stating the stereotype that women are so complicated to the point that men need complicated manuals to figure them out? Not every woman is a complicated monolith, right?

And YOU agreed with her 'misogynist' sweeping generalization.

But the only difference between her post and my post is the gender of who said the generalization, if it's coming from another woman it's all fine and you agree with it, but if it's coming from a man then it's all hell and evil and you go furious.

And oh, hale_bopp's post was even worse than ours, it was even a far broader generalizations - me and PeaceSells were referring to the women of this thread, while hale_bopp's post refers to a 'typical' woman. She didn't say some, she didn't say many... her post was so obvious claiming that the woman is just like that, complicated being with a complicated manual, a true monolith thinking.

Stop crying misogyny everytime someone criticizes what you say, it's patethic. You are the one who should stop making excuses for your behaviour and grow up. Also please stop defending her just because she has a c**t.

Actually I have to apologize to hale_bopp, because my statement was incorrect. All the women in this thread tried to justify her behaviour except hale_bopp. I recognize my mistakes.

Telling someone that they shouldn't defend someone who is wrong just because she has a vagina is not misogyny.

No, you don't know the OP or his girlfriend; therefore, you have no idea who's at "fault."

With my mother's boyfriends, they immediately threw violent temper-tantrums when they were denied what they wanted. If I suggested they were being "typical males," I would have been roasted. Don't play dumb.

Stop the nonsense. This isn't a Man v. Women thread.

When you use the nastiest slur possible for female genitalia when doing so, however...

As I have already said, this makes no sense. OP explained the situation pretty well and there are other threads about their arguments too. This is a forum, we don't know people who come here personally and we have to respond on the basis of the information we are given, otherwise the forum should get closed because none would be able to answer to anything. We are not a court, we try to judge the situations only to give advice and if they give us false information they are only undermining our ability to help them.
I am sorry for your bad experience regarding males, but I urge you not to project it onto us all. I also don't remember ever saying that OP's girlfriend is the typical female and if anyone else said it you as a mod can hold them accountable for their words.

No, that doesn't make me a misogynist either. It would rather indicate that I am getting upset.

The fact that you use anti-woman slurs when you are upset says otherwise.

If I started calling people the n-word and then tried to claim it was because I was upset and not because I have racist tendencies that come out when I am emotional people would be right to point out my BS.

The words you choose say a lot about how your mind works. You chose the worst word you can direct at women for a reason, and that reason was to express contempt at an entire gender. That's how it came across, and you know that and you showed that you knew it by changing your wording to "vagina" when trying to claim you're not being misogynistic. Just admit your language choice was definitely misogynistic.

Women call their vagina the c word all the time, it’s just another word for vagina now same as the p word. It’s not polite words but it’s not negative unless used in negative way. Like man she’s just a c word or what c words, but saying she has a c word isn’t negative.
