Has anyone ever felt like their (love) life is just a huge tv show or movie?

It feels that way a lot of times for me. The way my relationships have been going, it's just like a TV show, and I'm not sure if I'm a main character or not, lol. It's just a little weird. I watch shows and stuff a lot, and it seems like the things happening in the shows is happening to me too. There's drama, more drama, action, food, then drama again, hehe.

So can anyone relate?

Definitely.

I think this is why I don't even date anymore. I feel like I'm suppose to act all happy or pretend just so I don't get rejected and hurt. Then again as single person, I feel like I'm suppose to be in a relationship. Everytime I'm around people my age especially females, all I hear is conversations revolving around their boyfriends or children and feel like the black sheep. Have a very hard time relating...I've even had people ask me why I wasn't in a relationship. Not sure whether to use aspergers as the excuse or just act like I'm content. I hate it when people set me up with strangers.

Inverse it. TV is based on reality. If it strikes a chord with the viewer's soul, it gets ratings. TV is based off you. You are not based off TV.

And to you both: Love is something you recieve randomly, not by seeking, if you seek love, it WILL fail(I hate that clause)

Also: Love requires honesty and hard work. Don't let sitcoms fool you.

I'm not sure if mine has that much to do with TV land since I dont' have cable and hate television. Perhaps the way I've worded my post is a little off the topic so I apologize. I gues what I'm trying to say is I have a difficult time expressing my emotions in the same way most people express theirs. I feel like I have to fake it in order to feel a little accepted lest I be taken the wrong way.

I'm not sure how to explain or word it...I think the feeling I get is apathy rather than empathy...well duh I have aspergers. It's not so much I'm trying to emulate someone from TV, but feel like my emotions rub people off the wrong way. Most people think I'm sad when in reality I'm not. I feel like I have to pretend to laugh of pretend to smile...and feel like most people take these little things for granted. I do think it does get in the way of friendships and the potential relationships I've had in the past....that and other issues.

I don't really see myself as a conformist...I just don't like to be taken the wrong way. Whenever I'm talking to anyone, it really does seem like I'm on stage and getting judged on my performance by the audience.

i've been waiting since birth to find a love that would look and sound like a movie. - Ben Gibbons

That sums up my thoughts. I'm the opposite. I feel my life never reflects a movie in this regard, but I often wish it did =P

If my life's a movie, I'm sure the viewing audience has all left the theater by now.

I see this "acting" just about every time I talk to someone, or overhear others talking. Sad, but it is the way of life. Everybody's trying to present the illusion that their somebody they're not. It's like people are embarassed to show others who they really are.

As for relationships....I don't see the point of being with someone long-term that you can't be yourself around. If you can't talk to them as freely as you would talk to your best friend(assuming that they really are a best friend), then it's not worth the trouble. Unless, you're just playing the game for sex, then that's a different story, and it's short-term.

Something tells me that's a famous quote. I'm gonna look it up... ah, Shakespeare. Well, I feel like an idiot for not knowing that.

The strange thing with me though, is that my life in particular, is very much like an anime, rather than a live action TV show or movie. Every Friday, my friends get together and we fight martial arts against each other till the other person gets hurt and forfeits or gets worn out and calls it quits. Our conversations are always crazy, and even though we can't transform into chibis, it sure seems like we do. I dunno, it's just a little strange.

I agree with LivingOutsideTheBox....

We should admit that being single to that age is abnormal.

If my life is a TV show, then I'm just an extra.
