I saw this link on another forum:

http://www.townme.com/san-francisco-ca/city-data

Close to 5 million more never-married men than women (32,381,377 vs 27,531,993), or close to 18% more.

Also, men outnumber women at every age group below 40.

I'm sure Matthew 5:27 is partly to blame.

Those numbers aren't quite accurate. Townme.com is a fun site for info about towns across the U.S., but the U.S. Census Bureau (census.gov) has better data.

For instance:

- Women outnumber men in every age group nationwide, for instance. (It's a common mistake to think otherwise when looking at statistics because of how the data is presented)
- About 2 million more men than women are married in the U.S. (This is a result of there being more women than men in the U.S., largely because women live longer on average)

You can get more information about these topics at:
http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/AC ... _0&_sse=on
or
http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/ST ... 7_3YR_G00_
or elsewhere on the site.

Huh...well I must be of the minority of women. >_<

Somehow that doesn't make me feel any better..... :(

I'll trust the US Census Bureau in this case. If I ever find myself unfairly disadvantaged, I'll just get a mail-order bride.

I don't know how accurate these numbers are, but all things being equal, I can almost guarantee that more women are in relationships than men. This is especially true for Aspies.

Yes, but we're not talking about the elderly; we're talking about in particular age groups (like 21-30).

This strikes me as probably being a combination of two things:

1. Women typically marry older men
2. Women typically live longer

BS...

I have a very hard time with relationships because of my lousy social skills and I've met other aspie females who gripe about similar problems.

If you think....just don't use the word guarantee or especially true...

I might be wrong on this, and the results might be suprising, but I would like to start a poll on WP, comparing how many women that are in relationships, to the amount of men that are.

The "especially true" part I'll give ya, but I said "I can almost guarantee" on the other part.

Sorry about the post, I just can't help offending sensitive people. Why is it, that when I say anything about a woman on here, they get all defensive, and think it's a verbal attack on them or something? Anyways, that was a generalization about women in general. It doesn't mean there aren't exceptions.

I heard number 2 is now becoming less true since more women have had to work outside homes.

I guess stress has something to do with it....

ruling out polygamous relationships...

how can MORE women be in relationships then men?

All things being equal, shouldn't that number be the same....

maybe more "single" men then "women"...?

Perhaps it's an issue of some men preferring singledom.

Maybe gay women are more likely to be in a relationship than gay men. That might skew the statistics if the famous 10% figure is correct.

These statistics are mostly pointless. Unless there is an increase in poly and lesbian relationships, it takes two to tango.

So there is a lot of disappointed and break ups. Tell me something I didn't know.

It just goes to show that it's more difficult in general for men to obtain and hold relationships than it is for women. Men are more likely to be rejected.
