Have you ever loved someone more than anyone else, where they are number one in your life, but you are only second or third or fourth or whatever in their life? I haven't felt loyalty to my mother for years, because she loves her God more than she loves me. If she really loved me as much as she could, she would not see me as separate or an opposing force from her God. She would see that she can always get to her God through me and he (or rather, it) could get to her through me. God comes to me through the people I love, whom I love as God, therefore. I do not see them as separate, but as attached to each other and inseparable, so that it's perfectly understandable to call them one and the same.

No, and this has been the downfall of many relationships (both romantic and familial).
