Looking up an old schoolmate

When I was 28 years old and studying in a six-month computer program, one of the students there, L., had a crush on me. I kind of liked her too, but I was too busy going out with another girl who dumped me soon after. Now years later, I found out where L. lives by searching for her by computer. I am trying to figure out how to approach her. I know only her street address which is 40 miles from where I live now. I have not found any e-mail addresses. I am trying to figure out how to contact her. Basically, I can either write to her, or hang around her neighborhood and pretend that I bumped into her by accident. Either way, I will risk coming across as stalkerish, but I am prepared to take that risk. Probably it's better to write, since the computer lists three different past addresses, all close to each other. What should I do?

I wouldn't do either; both sound slightly creepy to be honest. Are you on facebook? You might find her there and it's a lot more socially acceptable to contact long-lost friends via the internet.

i read a book once, where the guy, tattoed the face of his old flame on his torso , then stood in front her door, waited for her to come out, then lifted up the shirt to show her, with flowers all round him. i think she called the cops.

Why not just drive over to her house, knock on the door and tell her you thought about her and wanted to see how she was. What have you got to lose? Go from there! Since you live pretty close and all. It will surprise her, but you never know until you try and you will wonder about it if you don't do it. You could give her your number after you talk for a bit, then it's up to her if she wants to call you. It may be good timing!
