Realize that you can have friends, family and, most importantly, yourself, to fill that 'lonely' void. A mate is nice, but they fill a different role in your life.

Yeah, I too have that problem of being lonely. My problem is that I don't think I'm worth having as a friend or a boyfriend. I'm very poor, on working disability, panicky, and secretly very angry at myself. I wouldn't hurt a spider or anyone, but I don't think I'm worth anything to the world; I'm staying alive for my family sakes, and because it's wrong to commit suicide; and I'm paranoid. Strangely enough, I'm not asking for pity; it is my own damn fault I'm at this point in my life. Oh well, I can only wish the best for you in finding a friend. Try to find people for which you have things in common. That helps.

if it weren't for loneliness i'd have no companion at all.

being alone sux. humans are social creatures. whether we have the skills and abilities to be so or not it is a basic need.

i've learned to live with it. i just find things to keep me busy.

Take it easy.
There are lots people even they have bf/gf still feel lonely.
In a lot of times, lonely is just a kind of feeling.
You can change it.
If you don't feel lonely, you will not be lonely.
The question is a lot of people can not control their feelings.
So it is important to learn to control what we think about.
It is hard, but we have to try.

Other people here imo have some good advice. Find something meaningful to you personally, even if others think it's silly. The more positive things you can replace with the gap created by what you feel you're lacking. You get to be happy, and it's an added bonus if someone comes along after that ;)

Don't want to be lonely? Then choose not to be. After all, no matter what you do, you always have yourself.

Teach yourself to love yourself and give yourself positive encouragement all the time, tell yourself what you're good at, etc. You don't even need to believe them, but give yourself positive feedback. In time, it will build you up.

After that you may be ready to take the next step, but self confidence is key. Gotta love yourself bro.

Maybe NTs are lonely because of some kind of self loathing, but for most geeks its because of dating ability or the possibility that they are looking in the wrong place. Shyness could be an issue though as shyness is an out of date survival trait.

I totally agree. I work hard to not be self loathing, but AS comes with difficulty in handling emotion. The emotional difficulties are worse when there is no success in dating. I also find that there is a huge difference between interacting with other people and interacting with myself. Interacting with myself is not as satisfying as interacting with other people. It's like trying to interact with a volleyball:
