A few weeks ago we broke up. She gave me the "still friends" speech, but she always brushes me off when I greet her IRL.

She's transfering across the state next semester, and I'm leaving for Christmas break tomorrow. I shot her a message on Facebook saying we had to trade back each other's things (my movies are at her room, her plate and silverware is in mine). SHe won't answer me though, and I'm getting angry about this, because first thing tomorrow I have a final and half an hour later I'm leaving, and she'll likely be out of my life forever.

I want to send a more forceful message, saying something like "If you're going to ignore me, at least don't steal from me," but I don't want to have to deal with the backlash of my roommate being a good friend of hers. Ideas?

Grab the roommate, or an RA, or even the campus police and go know on the young lady's door tonight and retrieve your things. Don't go alone - you don't want there to be any claims of illegal or harrassing activity. I suggest taking the roommate, because there's a friendship there. However, if he/she is unwilling, get the RA or the cops and get it done.

I think you should probably ask your room-mate nicely to try and get the movies back.

If she refuses though, then yeah, I agree with HopeGrows, your best chance of getting them back is dropping by with a friend.

Let it go.

Make a list of the items you'd like back. Box up her stuff and keep it in the corner with the list taped to the top. When she comes back asking, ask her politely about the list (the list is to help as a reminder as the time may be years down the road).

Movies are NOT that big of a deal. You'll get/copy more.

From my own personal life: At some point, you discover she's moved in with someone else and the movies that were once yours are now his after their breakup. And then you think "Super Troopers wasn't that great of a movie afterall"

I agree with HopeGrows. Get someone to accompany you, go to her place and get your stuff no matter what she says.... and inform the authorities if she still refuses to cooperate. And of course, make sure you have her stuff with you as well.
