What would the qualities for your perfect partner be?

Mine are very simple: she has to understand me and accept me for who I am. I have yet to meet anyone who fits that criteria, and if I ever do I'll make sure I hold onto her forever.

I married him :)

And I think your criteria are 50% perfect. That is what it's all about: someone who loves you as you are.

The other half? Someone you are willing to love and accept as they are :)

A shopping list, huh?

Non-smoker -- my father died of emphysema and lung cancer over a twenty-year period and I don't want to watch that happen to someone I love again.

Someone who treats himself and others with respect and courtesy.

Someone who will meet me half-way on disputed issues, not insist on his way being the only One and True Right Way, but is also willing to calmly help me when I need to see that I am doing that as well. I know very well that I can be rigid in my thinking at times over some very silly things.

Someone who will ask, "Why?" when he doesn't understand my point of view, and who will answer my questions when I don't understand his, not just tell me that his point is obvious to anyone and I should be able to get it. Sometimes it isn't, and sometimes I can't.

Someone who will let me talk to him, even when he's angry with me. My late husband always shut me out when he was angry and it never helped anything. I promise to do the same, though I may ask for breathing room occasionally.

Someone who is has his own interests and goals and respects and values mine as well. I don't expect anyone to share all of my interests. I should hope no one would seriously expect me to be a shorter, slighter mimeograph of him, either. I will, however, be happy to offer advice, criticism or praise as requested and fully intend to use my partner as a sounding board for my own work. (Be careful when asking me to critique, however. I'm never mean about it, but anyone who askes will get my unvarnished opinion and suggestions for improvement. If a person wants praise, they should ask me what I like about something, not just what I think about it.)

I won't say it's necessary, but I tend to be more attracted to men who are about 10 to 20 years older than me, at least intellectually. Intellectual attraction is very important. I don't really get along well with men in my age group or younger; we don't seem to have much in common. I understand the baby-boomers pretty well, though, probably because unlike most of the rest of my generation, my parents were from the WWII generation rather than being baby-boomers themselves. My upbringing was more similar to that of the previous generation than to that of my GenX peers, so my interests and values tend to be more in line with the previous generation, as well.

She would be Mystique entwined with Catwoman, imbued with the mind of Marie Curie, drizzled with the personality of Angelina Jolie and laced with the voice of Halle Barry.

And hey... you said the perfect woman so I'm totally allowed to make that tall an order. ^_~

(Oh, if you don't know who Marie Curie is, wikipedia her, rather amazing woman)

I married her!

She understands me, we like many of the same things, we have the same goals in life, we're on the same page about everything. Nothing has changed between us since my diagnosis, because she knows I am the same person as I was before it, and she loved me then, too.

He'd be outrageously intelligent, and we'd be best friends. We'd both be able to laugh at things that NT don't find funny. We'd spend our lives complaining about the government and laying around listening to obscure 80's music. He'd be an older man too, We'd be the kind of couple that would receive strange looks in the grocery store.
In fact - I found him, but he is not mine, and he will not be.

Nah, I'm still the same Toad you knew... with the whole "i'm not taking drugs" thing and whatnot... i've alternated between making fun of The List or trying to reason with him about it for years before you started posting here. But even in my most desperate hour, I wouldn't have made such a list... it's folly to expect anything of a relationship other than you love her and she loves you back (or he, as the case may be with each person).

Someone who is honest, faithful, serious about love, will accept me for who I am, and is committed to the relationship. Ideally, Asian or Hispanic, preferrably short (4'8" to 5'), my age or older (but not more than 12 years older), long dark hair, etc.

Someone I think is attractive with a lot of love and respect for me.

Kindness and confidence.

Gotta be fun and energetic, we've got to be able to do it at the same times or it doesn't work out.
Smart, really need them to understand what I'm saying as it usually makes sense but people don't understand the words or context all the time.
Funny, I like to laugh and make others laugh.
Attractive, if I can't stand looking at them I won't be happy and neither will they if they can't stand to look at me.
Shorter than me, not needed but a perfect someone would probably be just a little shorter than me at least.
Nerdy and weird, that way we have more in common :D
Isn't allergic or disliking of animals.
Likes mature things when appropriate for both of us.
Having the same standards and moral beliefs as I do is a plus but they don't have to be exactly the same for everything.
Likes cooking healthy well balanced meals everyday 3x a day. Not at all necessary but would be a big plus b/c although I can cook none of it is healthy :x And it has nothing to do with making a woman cook, I'm fine doing it but it wouldn't be healthy or balanced... Oh and it has to taste good that'll be the hardest part from my experience with healthy well balanced food..

Well, since I'm probably never going to find a partner since what i'm about to write has, for all intents and purposes, been impossible to find, so here goes.

A goth/punk chick who's into sports.
