What is it about hentai and furries that are more appealing than a real life sexual relationship (intercourse) with a human?

I have a very good friend who loves his girlfriend, spends lots of "in bed" time with her, is very cuddly, affectionate, gives her oral sex so she can have orgasms, etc... but his penis is only aroused by hentai, furries, bdsm/bondage and not by her. He says it's completely different and his love for her is true devotion of the heart while his erotic fetishes (fantasies) control his penis. He says his real life love is more important than his online sexual fetish stuff but he spends more time on line than he does in bed with his GF.

Any words of wisdom here? The GF is ready to break up with him after 1.5 years of not being able to arouse him or make him cum.

I like seeing people being open like this. I have my own thing I'm into to. I won't go into it as with this not being the Adult forum.

I have friends who are into this stuff as well. I don't get it either (the furry one)... (I'd explain more but its probably too gross for the regular forum). The only reason I understand the hentai obsession is the possibility that those who like it disconnect the social/emotional (partner relationship) aspects of themselves from the sexual, but still need sexual release (hentai).

Is it a form of escapism as well as a turn on?

We can't choose what we are attracted to. If she can't arouse him then they can either experiment or call it quits. Considering he doesn't appear to have a physical problem (doctor could double check this if he's concerned), she should try dressing up, roleplaying or maybe they could enjoy some form of erotic media together.

As far as anime, hentai, furries are concerned it's the fantasy factor. Things can be animated that would be difficult to attain in real life. Some guys like elves, others catgirls. Hentai is an extremely easy outlet for these desires, or the want of something new, different or exciting. Often times fans of certain animes will search for Doujinshi (fan comics of real comic strips) to see their favorite characters engaged in mature acts.

I personally play Eroges (Hentai games) and visual novels for fun, and I as most users are, are not limited to these mediums and still may spend time with girlfriends and other non 2D beings. But it is easy to get swept into hentai, as it is easy to get addicted to any type of pornography.

I let my alone porn habits sweep my erotic tastes to ever more bizarre heights until I was bored wading through it all to find something "bigger" and kept going until it was a hassle just to find something close to the last thing. Just that "it is almost ridiculous to be turned on by something so removed from reality" aspect was a big portion of the draw.

Well, the plummet in my sex drive with a little depression episode is probably the only reason I've slowed down so much. I probably always had a thing for the notion of pushing limits and I think the majority of it grew out of that. Also you can tell the quality of the art right away so you probably won't have to waste much time to find out that somthing is low quality.

Sounds like a fetish. If the fetish cannot be incorperated into the couples sex life he should avoid being in a sexual relationship.

Furries are the people who don't want to get arrested in farmer John's pasture out with some sheep, plus the costumes are cleaner and smell better.

But hentai? I just don't get it unless it has something to do with outrageous situations that would be very difficult to do in anything other than an animated medium. I shall say no more although if you are old enough to have troubles on L & D, I don't see why I need to self censor.
