Can anyone give me any advice?
I've had a crush on him for almost as long as i've known him and I just had a dream last night where I got to hug him as long as I wanted and it made me really happy.
I'm just worried that if I say anything then he'll stop being friends with me...

I think you should try telling him you like him. I wish more women would tell guy friends that they like em.

I don't really know man. Is it at all possible he feels the same way? is he of the same sexual orientiation? If no is an answer to either question, I worry it might seriously damage the friendship.

I personally wouldn't say anything. The friendship is more important.

Side note: If he knows your orientation already then it probably wouldn't be as big a deal.

I agree. homosexuality can be a very very touchy issue with many males, especially young ones.

Just tell him. Not doing so because there's a small chance he *might* be gay, as other posters have suggested, is completely stupid.

Maybe you should tell him it might be awkward and tell him to promise it won't affect your friendship before you tell him, though.

EDIT: Ahh, didn't realise the OP was male.

If my best friend approached me & leveled on such a thing, I'd feel very awkward and uncomfortable. I'd still want to be friends, but the feeling of discomfort would be strong.
....and I consider myself a pretty open guy.

This^

I would probably still speak to him on the phone often but it would be extremely awkward from then on.

If you're gay, I wouldn't tell him unless he's gay.

Advice doesn't get to be any simpler than that.
