Since the men have not offered any advice for us women on how to pick up men, I've taken it upon myself to formulate a new pick up line to try.

Scenario 1
Me: Do you have a boyfriend?
Hot guy: I do!
Me: Aww :-(

Scneario 2
Me: Do you have a boyfriend?
Hot guy: WTF? I'm not gay!
Me: So would you like a girlfriend then?

And we can take it from there.

Not sure if that is a good idea, the line you are suggesting is too up front. It is likely to be understood by many NT men as "do you want sex ?", it is a bit like the method which it is claimed that the woman nicknamed the "bakewell tart" (Wendy Sewell) used to indicate that she was interested in them.

It will attract men but the wrong type of men, some men are looking for a simple supply of sex and will offer you nothing else. I would advise you to try to get to know a man before you try to entice him.

The line was not "So would you like to have sex then?" Which is what I would say if I were enticing him.

It was "So would you like a girlfriend then?"

It sounds too much like a hooker asking if someone wants "a date" which is also code. I guess it would depend on the context. I think if you were in a club it would come off that way. The daughter of a family friend did that. She knew the guy casually and asked if he had a girlfriend. The guy said "No" and she said "Well you do now". They've got kids in college now. Still I think she was lucky.

*Facepalm*

Your first question should be if he has a girlfriend, not your second.

LOL!! Wow...she was lucky! I'm not sure what I'd do if one of my friends said that to me!

I get the impression that many NT men would assume that sex may be on the cards regardless.

Just go up and say "Hi, I'm <insert name here>".
If you want to make it more obvious you like them then tell them they're cute.

There aren't any sexual overtones in that - it just shows you want to get know them.

As a guy, I would be really pissed off if a girl asked me that. Why not, "Do you have a girlfriend?" instead. What you propose presumes that I was gay. I lot of non-gays would feel threatened by that question. It might be ok in a gay bar or somewhere where a lot of gay guys hang out. But not in regular places.

In summary, if you are trying to keep guys away from you, then you can use that line.

Because 99% of the guys I actually find attractive turn out to be gay. My sister jokes that I must be a gay man in a straight woman's body.

You see though, I've anticipated the anger a straight man might respond with and have given them incentive to go out with me by asking if they'd like a girlfriend (ie. me).

Like I said, pissing off a prospective date is not a good ice breaker. But you seem to be attracted to cute guys. If a guy is cute, he is most likely gay. Its best not to bother with cute guys. Even if you ask him if he is gay, he may not answer "yes" even if he is.

If the guy isn't cute, but is instead hot, then he is likely an abuser (cheater, leach, etc.) of some kind or another.

Its best to set your sights on a plain looking guy. They generally are a lot better in the long run.

As a guy I have women telling me that pick up lines don't work, and just to say hi and act like a normal human being (and therin lies the problem). So I find it strange to see women trying to make up cheesey lines too!

You could say:

"Do you have a girlfriend?"
"No"
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No"
"Would you like a girlfriend?"

Which may be better than the immediate do you have a boyfriend. Although to be honest, unless I actually knew you and got on well with you if you asked me if I'd like a girlfriend I'd either panic and go hide in a corner somewhere or answer it honestly - which would be "yes", that wouldn't necessarily mean that the answer would be "Yes, and I am interested in you" it could just be a "Yes, I'd like a girlfriend, some day, do you have any cute friends?".

1)Do not imply that you think a man is gay. This will make him angry. There is nothing you can do to recover from that. He will be very defensive wondering what it is about him that made you think he might be gay.

2)Do not ask a man if he "wants a girlfriend". Prostitution is illegal in most places so prostitutes have to pretend they are merely a very forward woman. If you say this a man will think you are a prostitute, talking in code (as is necessary, because it's illegal). Alternatively, he will think you are desperate and possibly dangerous. A third possibility is that he will think you are asking to have sex with him sometiime within the next 15 minutes or possibly hour if takes that long to find a secluded place. What will he not think? That you are looking for a stable, long term relationship with a compatible person. Because women just don't do this. Unless they are very drunk, looking for sex that very minute, or looking for sex that very minute for money.

If you were at all serious about this and not just kidding, please, please, please DON'T SAY THIS TO ANY MAN

I am honored you posted a responce.

that is all the better, as you hold it there, talk to them about life, or use your skills as a ninja to knock them out cold.

If a woman I don't know is very forward with me I will become uncomfortable and suspicious of her. I may think that she is trying to manipulate me in some way, or is telling a joke that I don't get. Overall I don't think this is a good way to operate with men in general.
