Of course you'd have to control for internet going men and other things for the survey to be scientifically valid but this brings up an interesting question.

Just how common is being a middle aged virgin?

According to this survey it is more common than AS.

Could this mean that there is such a thing as an NT virgin? :o

I'd reckon it would be very uncommon to be a middle-aged NT virgin, right?

For Aspies, its probably a whole lot more common. Many of us probably go their whole lives alone. I'm 27, and starting to think I'll never have a relationship, or find anybody.

This is actually a big "problem" in China because the sex ratio us so skewed by male child preferences.

Well, that's what's interesting about that number. Aspies are supposedly about 1 in 150. So even if every aspie was a virgin they would still be outnumbered by non aspie virgins 2 to 1.

Now that I can't buy for a second. Aspies are only 1 in 150? Despite the added social anxiety issues? I will probably be that 1 in 150 when I get to 40. I ain't had a girlfriend yet at 27, and I don't think that will change anytime soon, sadly.

That survey is for NT's only. The number is much higher in aspies.

In Japan the number is quite high, as most people live with their folks until they marry. If they never marry, well there you go.

The real number is likely higher than that. I've known many guys whos lifestyles never put them in the position where sex is likely. Same was with me.

I lived for years going to school, working, playing sports, and doing stuff with my male friends and the opportunity for sex never came up. Single girls were just not part of my world; at least not in a very involved manner. Wasn't until I decided to make a specific effort to find girls to have sex with til I eventually did it. The behaviours of a naturally sexual person were totally out of character for me.

Some people are just naturally asexual, and unless they work hard against the grain, they could easily stay virgins for a long time..

You know there are actually licensed sex therapist who have sex with their patients to show them how it's done.

And it's legal!

Weird, but true.

How is that not considered prostitution?

I think it's one of those "call it something else" legal loopholes...

Some judge couldn't have the truth that he visits sex therapist coming out.

I said or meant to say that 1 in 150 people are aspies. Not that 1 in 150 aspies are virgins by 40.

In this scenario all aspies could be virgins by 40, but they would still be outnumbered by non aspie virgins because the odds of being an aspie are only 1/3 of the odds of being a 40 year old virgin.

The point is the 40 year old virgin is not just an AS problem. (Though really I don't consider it a problem, it's the dumb bunnies who pump out too many babies who are the problem)

There's a correlation in young men between having AS and having a lack of success with women, but it's not nearly as strong as some here might suggest. These figures don't surprise me at all.

you people need to stop complaining and just go out and have sex. NT's are very easy to bed. Just pretend that you are a monkey.

Oh really?

I've never thought so. Having had no luck with women my entire life.

But anyway, I'm looking for more than that. Someone who actually cares about me, and I them. A relationship.
