I've always wondered if my intrest were normal for female aspies or are more NT. I do have aspergers but when i talk to people for awhile they say "wow I never would of guessed!". Let's start with my interest.
If I had/have a "special intrest" it's clothing/acessories/shoes/makeup plus guys and dating. The reason this is on love and dating is that I wonder if i would be better off with a NT or Aspie. Aspie guys might complain that I spend too long on my apperance(i could spend hours shopping at the mall) while a NT might say "Aw she's so cute and girlish". However I don't know how they would react. I'm just so confused about dating and what to look for as far as NT or Aspie, I almost am blind when it comes do dating or romance. Guys flirt with me and all that,I just don't know who would like me more. :?
Any advice/help?

Since not all Aspies are at the same level of functioning, I can't really answer this question.

AS/AS relationships can be the best relationship one can have, or it could be the worst. It varies by person.

From what I've seen the most common obsessions have more to do with exposure to cultural values than anything else. I never thought of it that way, but a heavy interest in fashion is strongly prevalent in modern culture. Things like that could explain a large part of the difference between male and female diagnosis.

As for who you should date (I'm not exactly sure what you're asking), I would say focus more on finding someone you can relate to. Everyone is going to have quirks, and the best advice really is to find someone you're similar to.

Which one likes you more shouldn't be as important.

I kind of asked the same thing.. except mine is way longer.. and I posted it here.
But I was not asking to figure out what kind of guy I should go for - I really do not like the typical male/alpha type and not really looking
And I do not know if I am AS or not (strongly possible)

Can clothing/acessories/shoes/makeup plus guys and dating even be considered 'special interest'? I have no idea?!?!

and if anyone said to me or about me "Aw she's so cute and girlish" I would wonder what planet they were from
laugh maybe - not a teehee laugh, but omfg what drugs are you on kinda laugh
I have never been called that

Couple years ago people started to tell me I needed to start growing out my hair and being a bit more
'feminine' in appearance, for work etc

I look female, I just didn't appear 'soft, fluffy and friendly'
First - wtf does that mean?

I paint my nails, always have - for one reason only, they grow to fast, so either I am cutting/trimming cleaning constantly
or I just paint them so the stuff under them doesn't show - motor oil, random dirt
if I do not see the dirt, it doesn't bother me - if I see it under my nails I can spend all day cleaning them on and off
So painting a couple times a month, made logical sense to me - time saver

Now it had been suggested to grow out my hair 8O
My hair for years, was wash and go

now it is shoulder length..
I had no clue what to do with it.. still no real clue, its iritating.. touches my skin for one thing

BUT some person that called themselves my 'friend' baught me those comb thingies
they go in the sides of the head to hold hair back?!?! no idea what they are called..

why do those things not come with instructions?
seriously?
I spent a couple hours trying to get them to work - broke 3 I think maybe 4..
I am stubborn, if people that cannot run a drill can put the friggen things in their hair, damn it I should be able to figure it out..
Male 'friend' showed up - he started to laugh, said it can't be as hard as you make it look - I handed him the stupid one I was holding
he couldnt do it either.
we looked it up online.

Now I either throw it into a ponytail, or a clip thingy (almost stopped doing that when someone said I kinda looked like whats-her-face)

so it is still wash and go, basically..

Good point, maybe I am an Aspie, with low functioning female traits/abilities lol
I am honestly almost completely dense when it comes to the 'female' stuff - I just do not get it or understand it

Me too. I wore it down all the time when I was younger, but now it just makes my face too hot. I do wish I knew how to braid it, though (the ponytail) - I've never been able to get the knack. :?

Sorry, that was totally off-topic, wasn't it?

I don't think it was off topic.. ok maybe it was ..

oops

I tried to braid mine, people have shown me how.. and videos, I just cannot do it.
I have always taken about 15 to 20 mins to get ready to go out - now knowing what some/most women do with their hair.. I kinda understand now why they take hours..
still hate it though..

I think it depends on the exact nature of the interest, as liking trains, does not mean liking trains, so to speak.

Those with AS typically have special interests pertaining to a small portion of a certain subject for reasons which may deviate from the typical reasons someone might be interested in a subject.

Many researchers have remarked how many people with AS have a fixation of weather without actually knowing much of anything about weather.

I used to watch the weather channel for a good portion of the day back when it was just the text report yet I couldn't have told you anything about cold fronts or warm fronts. I could tell you about different types of clouds though and when to expect tornadoes.

In a sense, an analogy might be to say that a person with AS is like a choreography who can't dance, has no desire to dance, doesn't really like to watch dances, but is still interested in dance from a choreographic standpoint.

I had long hair for a long time - but I suddenly lost my temper with it a few months ago and cut it all to about 4cm long with a pair of clippers, which was actually a great relief, despite it looking a little odd. I might grow it back when I feel I've had a sufficient break from it . . . but something that always really annoyed me was that I would always have breakage around the hairline, despite the fact that I never dried, straightened or even brushed my hair.

As for something slightly more on-topic, I have no interest at all in fashion or make-up . . . I don't even own any. I just know that it would feel like dirt and grease on my face. It's not something I've ever understood, the idea of wearing it and wearing the same clothes as everyone else. It did get me bullied at school, though, such indifference. My clothes are almost solely things that I find comfortable, like jeans (not tight ones) and soft cotton sweatshirts and long-sleeved tops. I have a couple of skirts, but they annoy me by flapping around my legs. All my bras are non-wired ones, and I hate the feel of synthetic materials . . . I think that even if I was interested in being fashionable and wearing make-up, my tactile sensitivities would prevent me from doing anything about it.

I think that your question about who would like you more is impossible to answer, given how different people are.

Yeah, your interests are very NT female! I myself probably wouldn't wanna hang out with you.

I don't know what you are asking though. I am equally clueless on whether people like me or not. I get lots of flirting but what is the point? I dunno.
