I'm new to your website. But I am proud to be an Aspie. It is all too easy for all of us to lean on our weaknesses.

I too can be guilty of that like writing my profile and messages without re reading what I have written. In life I have gone through a lot. Many would say i am middle aged because I am a little more than 50. But I have have lived a life many would envy travelled the world. I love excitement semi dangerous sports and although I havent had it easy as anything you read about me is the whole truth and nothing about the truth. It is important for us Aspies to be this way not to hide or runaway. Unless we can voice our fears to the world we cannot move forward and standing still wont get us anywhere either. PLEASE DON NOT HIDE BEHIND YOUR FEARS. EACH AND EVERYONE OF US ARE UNIQUE I AM READY TO LEARN ABOUT YOURS AND SIMILARLY SHARE MINE.

I AM ADDICTED TO SEX AND THE FEAR OF NOT BEING LOVED OR TOUCHED AND THAT IS MY WEAKNESS
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU.

That is a typical Aspie reply. What you are telling me is that everyone is addicted to sex as far as you are concerned. open your eyes and look at this website and then tell me eeveryone is addicted to sex.

I guess you haven't read all of this website, cuz it sure looks to me like the vast majority are addicted to sex. (There are exceptions, as with anything else in life.)

I have a totally healthy attitude to life I am not addicted to food, drink, computers or fornication. I suffer from loneliness but I cannot seem to do anything about that, I am taking meditation courses so I will be able to let go of that.

Aspie_Chav, I applaud you. You are certainly a rare and refreshing breath of life in this world! If I wasn't married, I'd ask you out on a date.

What exactly does it mean to be "addicted" to sex? What are the harmful consequences if it is betwen consenting adults? Just curious...

I think thats something thats open for debate. I had a roommate who told me I was addicted to drugs, but this was coming from someone who had never even drank. Who was he to judge? I've had friends who were addicts, they had no control, and would spend their last penny to get a high even if it meant going without food. I've tried this and that out of boredom and curiousity, there' s a huge difference.

As far as sex goes... we all desire it. Thats what makes us human. To me sexual addiction is when you'll sleep with anyone, anyplace. I dated a girl like that, it was fun for about 2 weeks until I realized she was sleeping with others as well.

Yes, that's true. Addiction, like any other disease, is socially constructed. In Canada many people look with a cynical eye on the privatized addiction counselling industry of the US. We read that people in the US who are charged with drug or alcohol offences are given the choice between jail or "rehabilitation" and the problem is that then the privatized addiction industry becomes a stakeholder in how the society defines addiction.
