I'm trying to talk with guys and I even send some messages, I read their profiles or analyze their photos and try to make some commentary about it, but it's so hard to keep a conversation? After a few messages all guys felt an obligation to tell me I'm pretty (I'm not even that pretty lol) and then the conversation dies there, or sometimes they even start telling me this and it's really not natural (one guy told me how my eyes were pretty and I use glasses and you barely can see my eyes on my picture), it just kills any mood. I think they are trying to be nice but I just say thank and compliment them as well but there isn't anything more to say.

I have this problem too. I sometimes even wait a few days to reply to a message because I'm not sure what to say. I think that pushes them away even more.

I waited a month before I responded to the guy who is now my boyfriend. Lol I even sent him a messege of, 'I know you contacted me a month ago, and not sure if you're still interested or not but if so I'd like to meet up.' turned out he was still interested after that month so yeah. Would have responded sooner but I was rather upset about the last guy I had met essentially having led me on so I had to kind of give myself some time.

ltcvnzl and slw, the reason why this happens, is because of THAT: viewtopic.php?t=342818

As you can see in the other thread, guys waaaay waaaay outnumber women on dating sites; for that reason, most guys lose hope in dating sites , develop a defeatist attitude and are used to just give up fast.

I would bet, some even totally lose confidence and reason and become even crazier.

Any sign of silence or lack of interest you show, they would quickly assume you found someone else, we guys know that you have way more options than us.
We know that you have all the power, to the extent that you can summon back any guy you ignored months ago, and he will just gladly come to you.

I guess it's true that there is more man in online dating and etc. But why ruin in a conversation that is going fine and nice turning to a dead end subject? it's really stupid.

anyway I think I'll give up because no one of those guys is as nice as the guy I love (and doesn't love me back). I think I'll just be alone.

The quality of your message also goes a long way. Sometimes you don't have any other choice but to write a simple "hey :)" because their profile is so barethread.
