Im not all too keen on the whole online dating bit. There is some unethical underthing about it, that just eats at me.

But in any case, where are all of you aspie women hiding all the time? I never met one, [only one i suspected was undiagnosed], but I go to and art college in SF. One would think it would be easy? Apparently not.

SO. back to the original topic.
where and what are all of you aspie women doing? where are your fave hang out spots, interests, and the such.

We're probably doing the same things as Aspie men. But maybe that's just me.

I'm married though. And guess where I met my (also Aspie) man?

Online.

There's NOTHING wrong with online dating. In fact I had a MUCH better time with that than trying to meet men that were compatible with me randomly throughout my day as a college student, at work, etc... I got SO sick of the games and such. Men kept assuming I was dumb because I am pretty and I'm absent-minded. They were mistaking me being inside my head all the time as me being dim. Then they'd find out I wasn't, and would get all intimidated or weird about it. I said screw it and made myself a painfully honest profile. I didn't know I was an Aspie yet, but looking back all the stuff I put about myself and what I wanted in a man...well, I might as well have said, "Hey! Aspie chick here! I want an Aspie man!" LOL

Anyway, I got to screen out all the a-holes and weird (not in a good way :P ) jerks. Went on a couple dates. Nothing special. Then this great guy found me, because he bet his friend he could find attractive gamer girls. And he found me :) We've been together 6 years now, married for almost 2 and we have a wonderful baby boy.

IMHO, online dating was the best thing for me. Maybe not for everyone, but I don't see the harm in trying.

You can meet them anywhere. I usually find them online, though.

Finding one who has the same interests, beliefs, and sex drive as me is nearly impossible.

I thought you got rid of the list?

Um, the sex drive thing is a common problem in any relationship. Many men complain that most women they find do not have the same sex drive. that is a gender difference, Aspie or not. Not to say that all women have lower sex drives then men. Sometimes it is the other way around. I think it can depend on the individual and what is going on in their life at the moment.

Also, an individual's sex drive can change throughout life. it can go up and down, even on an hourly basis. If you want to eventually find a life partner (not just a temporary sex partner) one needs to accept that and not determine the entire validity of the relationship on the sex drive at any given moment.

assuming it isnt online. [I havent tried, it just makes me nervous for some reason], Gigi, you were/are a gamer. so basically, I should try to find a cyber cafe, or something else I would probably be already doing?
So find me a quirky girl just...kinda...right around my intrests?

sex drive isnt an issue for me. Just personality. [and base standards]. sex sorta just happens when it happens. not really too zoned in on that one.

However, online would be worth a shot. It just feels so wrong to me, Like i need someone, when i really dont.

really, Im just kinda intrested in finding a nerdy quirky gamer girl, and seeing if things would go anywhere....just got no clue where they are hiding.

The only one I found, just so happened to be convienently hidden in my dorm up here at college.

Artsy girls are nice too. just not indy hipster artsy. more like aspie quirky artsie.

Well...if online dating is a way to find em, where is a good idea to look?

I pretty much knew i was an aspie since I was four...but I work in severe extremes at times, and it usually isnt my fault it is like that. [not like moody extremes, more like intense adventures and nefarious misdeeds]

grats on the marriage btw, Im glad some aspies hooked up hahaha

but seriously. Lets get some places listed out where you guys enjoy hanging out!

I can agree, the games piss me off too. I like to be straight to the point. and just have fun and not care.

Sometimes I am the same, I get really deep into something, or present an absract idea, and am met with the thought process that I am giving an open ended question the wrong answer.

so far, meeting people in person has been my thing. its like i know them better that way

I am referring to the fact that the percentage of people on the spectrum who are asexual is higher than that of NTs.

And you can't tell an asexual person to stop being asexual.

Thanks! It wasn't easy though, even though we're perfect for each other LOL
Having two people, very used to having routines and privacy...all of a sudden needing to learn to live together (thankfully we moved in together before we got married).

Anyway, IF you want to do the online thing I used match dot com (not sure if saying that is not allowed, posting links or saying their name, whatever). That's the only thing I used. Their analysis stuff (you fill out somepolls and they use that to suggest "matches") didn't help. It was interesting though. What helped was being REALLY honest on my profile, and posting EXACTLY what I liked. According to them, my future husband would not have liked me, nor I him. But they were obviously wrong. he found me by searching for "D&D".

As for places- I don't know. I had a REALLY hard time meeting people IRL. Well, actually I met A LOT of guys but they were all wrong. I usually game by myself, pc games mostly. I enjoy playing P&P games, but don't get the opportunity to often. I used to enjoy hanging out at the local gaming store, where I met a few people. But I wasn't single at the time.

What's wrong with the girl at your dorm? Why not get to know her?

true that. But at the same time, that whole asexual nonsense isnt entirely true. Just because they dont have a sex drive and feel the same amount of urges doesnt mean they can completely forgo it.

Even if it is just cute cuddling and hanging out like best buds, I mean, the whole dating aspect is there right?

actually I did. We got to be like awesome pals. Then we dated, and by god is was amazing. But then my father died. and everything went to s**t. she came up to me after 3 month of dating, [on the day i was going to tell her I loved her for the first time] She told me she didnt really like me, and proceeded to break up with me.

I tried everything to get her back, buying her things, asking what happend. in all honesty, nothing really happened, I beat myself up so much about it I had changed, so much so I actually started causing her problems. So Basically I asked her to cut all ties with me becuase it probably wouldnt get any better.

wow, that made me feel like a creep. IRL it was actually far more complicated, but man, I wish I hadnt screwed up that one. It was kind of just a bad time. I dont really think too much on it anymore. Cause I cant bring myself to cause her any more trouble, you know?

she was kind of aspie like, i think undiagnosed. And because of how good it was when things were good. Im intrested in finding similar people.

@tim, she is sorta an asexual gal. But you know, yeah, she was kinda not too intrested in liking me i guess?

online dating eventually worked for me. used okcupid... it's free and i figure about as effective as pay sites.

nothing is 100% sure thing... but it's a good avenue to keep open.

gl!

You wont find most of the girls in the WP love and dating section. There are heaps of women and girls on here though, and people hang out in different places IRL regarding their interests.

Its all logic really.

You won't get a "nerdy gamer girl" as much on a dating site as much you would on a gaming community online.

If you want a gamer girl, participate in gamer communities. On all the gamer communities im pretty much all the girls (heaps) have hooked up with some or one of the guys from that forum. (Except me, I am not usually a fan of young geeky guys) but it's common to find gamers geeks there who WILL hook up and date other members.

Like IGN and other gamer forums.

Logically that would be the smartest way...I cant believe that didnt already cross my mind!
